I'm trying to use the "LAV Video" decoder in NPVR.

If I select it for the "MPEG2" decoder in the settings it is used when I play back my .ts recordings (verified in GraphEdit) but I see no way to change the options for the decoder when I connect to the remote graph. Playback has problems in NPVR so I think I need to select the "Intel QuickSync" option but I see no way to get to the LAV Video decoder settings/options dialog?

If I select it for the "H.264" video decoder it never seems to be used for my MKV files with H.264 video. The "Microsoft DTV-DVD" decoder is always used even though I'm using the LAV Splitter. I also don't see any way to set the "VC-1" decoder in NPVR although maybe the LAV decoder doesn't support VC-1 anyways?

Thanks for any help.

Click the [..] button beside the selection on the Decoder config screen.

The settings in config are only for mpeg-ts. Everything else is based on the Windows merit. If you use a codec pack you might be able to select if it has it's own tool, otherwise you need to use a utility like this http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=146910

Has anyone tried using the LAV Video decoder for MPEG2 (ATSC) recordings? It seems to play ok but when I try to skip ahead I get strange behavior (video takes a while to catch up to audio, pixelation, etc.). This is on built-in Intel HD2000 graphics both with or without "Quicksync" enabled.

Yes, same problem with LAV. Sometimes have to start watching again after skipping. Also, if start with "resume", there is no video at all sometimes. It work then after second or third try.

I found this in the "Known Issues" section of the QuickSync thread on AVS (http://www.avsforum.com/t/1358343) so it sounds like something that might need to be fixed in the LAV decoders:

* After a seek in a TS file, a corruption is seen for a few frames. LAV splitter known issue.
