The mobo on my GBPRV machine failed, and I had to replace it. When I cranked it back up, PVRX2 was not working. Got a window with a big red X in it. So I thought this might be a good time to try out NPVR on a spare hard drive. I installed Windows 7 and NPVR, and it seems that this is not going to be so easy. Starting to regret starting this, but I'm going to try to hold out until the bulb begins to glow a little, if that ever happens. Just adding my two analog cards is a pain, and the procedure is not very clear - to me, anyway - so, if someone could give a hand, I would be appreciative.

I have two PVR-500 cards installed, for a total of 4 tuners. I ran FilterCheck. Following are the two sections mentioned in the Wiki page. How many entries am I supposed to make to the xml file, and what should they be?

Thanks in advance.

To use analog device with NextPVR, you need to have the MainConcept mux filter installed. This is installed with the Hauppauge WinTV software. http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ugeSoftPVR

Thanks. I have wintv7_cd_2.5d.exe and a WinTV-PVR installation CD "for Windows XP Media Center Edition" version 3.1c. Will this work?

I think the Media Center disk is probably just driver CD, so it probably wont let you install WinTV when it asks for you original CD.

You can probably extract the required file from the 2.5D installer though. I dont know the details on how to do it, but I remember others have discussed it in the past, so try searching 'softpvr'

Okay, found old CD and got WinTV-7 installed. Tuners now showing up in "Devices". Output for FilterCheck looks the same, though. Now what?

Just discovered that there is nothing on the wiki about setting up channels for an analog device, but I think I have seen some explanation on the forum. Try searching for "analog setup" or "analog channels". I seem to remember that in the US you can import the channels directly from an xmltv file or SchedulesDirect. Sorry I can't be of more help.

What is needed on the wiki?

Is this:

http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...etupDialog

not a start on analogue device set up? I will concede that there is no mention of SoftPVR on this page. But as usual a work in progress......

cheers

Okay, I've about reached my limit with this. I've spent all day at this, I can't get it setup, the Wiki is no help, and I haven't been able to find anything in a search. My frustration level is about a 9.

The Wiki says integrated support for SchedulesDirect, but I see no sign of it. The settings page has a Channels tab, but I have no idea what to do with it. Also, each tuner setup page has a Device Setup screen with channels, but ditto there.

jfm,

don't give up Wink

I would humbly suggest that if you have spent all day on this then you have reached your limit for today. No sarcasm etc meant. You need to sleep on it. I suspect that things after sleep/rest will become clearer. You have to remember that this is a FREE PVR programme written by someone with years of experience doing this stuff but meant to be able to work for everyone around the world.

If you think you will have it working as you want it after one day, I have to say you may be mistaken.

I suspect you know exactly what you want but have found it frustrating that it is not doing it for you. It will, if you persevere.

But not in one day.

cheers

To get you started....

In settings select Devices
highlight the device you want to setup
select the "Device Setup" button down the bottom
select the "Import" button
under EPG Source select Scheduled Direct
