Hi, NDroid worked fine on my old machine, but I have moved NPVR to a new computer that is faster. NPVR is working fine, NDROID service installs without error, but Android client hangs up upon first launch on both my Motorola Phone (2.3) and Acer Tablet (4.0). I get no error message whatsoever, just the spinning blue lines that keep going and going. I am not seeing the downloading message.

I have spent hours downloading, uninstalling, reinstalling, etc but to no avail - always the same message. I have also specifically opened ports 8790 and 8791 on both windows firewall and on my router (though I am presently trying to get the app to work on LAN before trying remote access).

Any new ideas are appreciated because I am at the end of my rope.

Not really sure. If you've done an un-install / re-install of the nDroid app as you say then you obviously have to go through the initial network settings process, correct. Can you confirm that the LAN IP address you're using is correct for your new PC? I'd normally expect you to see a network error popup if it wasn't a valid address though.

If you zip / attach the nDroid service logs I'll take a look at what's happening (if anything) at that end but other than that, I can't think of what the problem might be.

Same thing happenned to me when I upgraded to a new PC.
Originally I had to enable windows streaming in windows media player but that doesn't fix it this time around.
Tried with letting nDroid thru FW exceptions then went advanced and specified ports- no go.
My client will only connect if windows firewall is disabled.

nDroid doesn't do anything particularly clever when it come to networking. Communication is done entirely using HTTP GET requests/responses pretty much in the way any web-browser works.

The only thing that I can think of (although perhaps unlikely) is that the firewall doesn't like HTTP communications that aren't on the 'standard' HTTP port 80. As I said, it seems unlikely though.

I'm afraid I can't really advise on software firewalls as I never use them (I also consider the built-in Windows Firewall to be particularly evil).
