hey all. i had recently posted as a new user and thanks to you all that answered, i got some of my issues worked out. i still have an issue with my mce remote....which i think it needs programmed in NPVR? the remote works ok in media center in all aspects, ie. changing channels, volume, etc.....but i don't like media center and do like NPVR. However, i can't seem to get the remote to change channels during LiveTV (or is it the ir blaster?). I spent a few minutes in the forum looking for answers but nothing jumped out at me. Does anyone have a quick answer as to how to set up the remote control? Thanks in advance.

Intel P4 3.2 GHz Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, (2) 250 GB HDD, Windows 7 Professional, ATI All-In-Wonder 512 MB PCIe video with MCE Remote Control, Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2, Phillips USB IR Blaster, Klipsch 7.1 Surround Speakers.

changing channels is the blaster's only job..
first you need to have some ir files to blast to your set top box[stb]

what software are you using to blast with? i use IRSS for remote and blasting..fairly easy to setup..
it has several built-in codes for many stb's and can 'learn' yours from your stb remote as well if needed..

once you have your stb's remote codes to blast, you have to tell npvr what executable to initiate the blast with..[w/irss it's irblast.exe]
typically i have to resetup my channels to change the blaster [delete them then re-import,setting blaster when you do]
in device setup it's the 'channel changer executable' and arguments you need to fill out..
there's also a pre-set file to import on the wiki, tho i bet it needs a bit of changes for new pip keys..it also doesn't include blast setup as everyone's is different..
[but it does help alot to get things going]

thanks for the info pBS. i hadn't installed any blaster software because i connected the blaster via usb and it just worked in MCE. i'll give the IRSS that you suggested a go and see what happens. thanks again.

HIP from ByRemote is another alternative that I find easy and reliable Smile

Here's the forum for IR Server Suite (IRSS) on the MediaPortal forum:

http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/forums...-irss.165/

And the wiki:

Not sure where the download is, but you should be able to find it from these.
