Sorry to dredge up the past, but I'm trying to update my gbpvr XPSP3 install to Win7, so I can make use of exe plugins... (xbmc for movies/youtube/Playon) which I presently cannot, because the only non-tearing XP renderer is VMR9 FSE.

I'd like to use dvr-ms, because it works the best (ie perfectly) with comskip. ts files skip inaccurately.

With dvr-ms and Win7, I can record, comskip runs and finds commercials, but I get a black screen and a snippet of sound when trying to playback in gbpvr. The file plays fine in a directshow app (WMP, graphstudio). The gbpvr logs show that the same graph is made, as the directshow apps that successfully play the file.

I know everyone will tell me to go to npvr, but I'm curious if anyone has had a similar experience as I have described, and if they were able to solve this problem.

Thanks...

in GBPVR, dvr-ms worked perfectly for me in Win7 with the EVR renderer - great picture. In fact, it was the best PVR experience I've had. Skipping was perfect. Never had a problem, so don't know what to suggest.

yes, this is a known issue, with a work-around. I'm the lucky one who first discovered both. The workaround is to rename or unregister one of the gb-pvr filters, which unfortunately also breaks the auto aspect-ratio detection. Now I just have to search out which one it was..

I am waiting with bated breath.... I already have my remote keys programmed for aspect ratio "cycling"... no worries on that front.

Thanks

ok, found it and refreshed my memory: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...n7-install

you can either set all decoders to "system default", or rename the gb-pvr flow status filter so that it can't be used.

Right, just set all decoders to default, and you will be fine. Forgot about that. NPVR is better in many respects, but as far as playback of recorded USA MPEG2 video, I don't think GBPVR with dvr-ms and EVR can be beat.

glad I happened to see your post; 9 times out of 10 I ignore GB-PVR posts because I just don't remember much about it any more, having switched to NPVR over 2 years ago.
