Hi all. yes, I have searched. I impulsively posted in another thread about this issue but no results. So I figured I would outline my issues once and for all before I roll-back to my old previous version and wait. Which would be a shame considering i was really looking forward to the updated features. :-(

I was running 2 major versions back for quite some time. No major issues but would crash fairly regularly. Pausing was mostly reliable.
But Subs work on the latest version was very tempting so I backed everything up and in-place upgraded. All was smooth, no issues.

But my most used feature, pausing, is really bad. if I pause for a few mins and then unpause it will always jump forward. This appears to be somewhat proportional to the amount of time paused. so if paused 5 mins, might jump forward 1 min. if paused 10 mins, might jump forward 2 mins. These are just guesses, you get the idea. if I then jump one-click back in the timeline it goes right back to what I believe is the start of the buffer file. This might be 20 mins or more before I pressed pause??! If i then jump forward repeatedly until i get to the point in the timeline that I paused, nPVR crashes. Well the timeline locks skipping like a scratched CD. If I press 'stop' lots of times I can generally kill the picture back to menu.

Additionally, if I pause a long time (30mins or so) then on unpause it will crash. sometimes around 10 mins after tinkering with pause the screen will go black and I will get an "encrypted content" in the top right. This hasn't happened with any live content.

So, as you can see pausing is unusable for me. so if I cant figure it out, im going to have to forget about this version and use my backup. which would a shame.

I did all the 2.5.5 R1 patches. No changes.
Logs attached. Any ideas are appreciated.

Thx.

i get the same problem when i pause...am using hdpvr and atsc tuners, winxp.
unpause and it skips ahead, one backskip and you end up at beginning of timeline or near where you paused initially..
only with pauses that are long duration..[over a minute or so]

makes it really unusable, as pausing just makes me miss content, so i have to record everything first..even playback while recording shows same thing..
only happens on in-progress recording/livetv timeshift.

I had this happen to me last night (but never before) - a forward skip cleared it, I noticed some other issues with it not jumping to where it should be but I was in too much of a hurry to properly note what it was actually doing.

I'm seeing exactly the same symptoms as the OP. But the issue relating to the longer I pause, the worse the skipping and crashing has been with me for a few versions. I also get the encryption message only after I have paused - never if I don't pause live TV.

I've just created another post (oops) "Pause problems 2.5.5 and older versions" but it sounds like we have a similar issue.

looks like its back to the old version for me. i just can put up with this behavior anymore. Its driving me nuts. Sad
its a bit dissapointing that so far there has been no hint of a comment of what to do about this from Sub or the other influentials. This clearly affects a bunch of people and is a very core feature. Would be nice to be able to assist with working through this.

I had noted it down to investigate, but unfortunately I haven't found time to investigate yet. I've been very busy with my day job the last couple of weeks.

further to this. I rolled back to the previous version by copying back the contents of the programfiles/npvr and also the users/public/npvr folder. Everything functioned just fine - ACCEPT PAUSE! pause was even worse still. most of the time unpausing just completely locked up and the pause length appeared to be always zero. Totally unusable.

So I rolled back the entire drive as an image. Everything is fine now. So not sure what the difference. only guess I have is something in the registry. Maybe Sub has a better idea.
