Dear all (and probably mostly sub Big Grin )

No idea where to post this so thought I would start here in the familiar and friendly forum of NextPVR. (BTW nice to see a whole xbmc sub forum going, I guess that makes life easier, at least to start)

gEd did advise sticking this on the xbmc forum as per this post:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post442847

which I will of course do if that is where I should be addressing this question?

My problem is as this is all new I am not sure where I should be addressing my question Wink

I am talking here the built in capability that sub has put into NextPVR as a backend to xbmc.

I am still an old dog and afraid to say that everything is running on XP!

I have my backend NextPVR server and tried testing the xbmc add-on on a front-end machine as pointed to me by gEd on this post:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post442730

everything looks good, pvr client enabled etc etc.

Firewalls have been down. (Norton on front-end - security essentials on NextPVR back-end)

TV shows as an option (well actually it says "LiveTV" IMHO that should just say TV?!)

As soon as I click on "LiveTV" I get a very honourable message from xbmc telling me that:

"No PVR Clients have been started yet. Wait for the PVR Clients to start"
"Please check your configuration or check the log for details"

Well I have set the xbmc log into debug mode and nothing shows at all about what I am trying to do.

I have no idea what the NextPVR PIN is in the settings of xbmc? Is that the same password I give to the NextPVR webserver?

In which case it would be helpful if the 2 terms could marry up?

For once I cannot provide logs as there are no logs of any help Big Grin

cheers

steeb

p.s.

should have added -

Can access NEWA fine from same client machine so would not have thought firewalls etc were the issue?

Just leave the PIN set to 0000.

You'll need to zip and attach your xbmc.log file. On my Win7 machine it's in C:\Users\Graeme\AppData\Roaming\XBMC. I'm not sure where it'll be on XP. You can probably type %APPDATA% into the address bar at the top of the windows explorer to find the AppData location on your machine.

Steeb, the logs are located in the Same area the NPVR logs and yours are, Roaming/XBMC on windows 7. and XP should be similar.
I didn't need a PIN to get it to work, so thats not the problem.
You need to put it in the plugins area of the Roaming/XBMC folder, and the similar one for Windows XP, then enable it in the system add ons, and then enable the PVR backend, by going into system live tv.

Thanks all so far,

enabled and showing as I said in menu item of xbmc.

I found the logs before in XP. I enabled debugging in xbmc, as I said before. I know where the logs are! (Sorry to be me and arsey sounding, late here.!)

I attach if in case of any use!

I can't see anything at all that even suggests I started an add-on......

cheers

As allways, if it fails, try "reset database" in the live-tv settings

Yeah, looks like it didn't even start the addon. Its probably an addon vs xbmc version problem.

Given what sub just said, i would make sure your downloading the latest one from here
http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/win32/...master.exe
install it and then this npvr addon.
http://www.dotnetdevelopers.net/XBMC/pvr...extpvr.zip
it's working for me with the exception of that odd error i reported.

Tried that one again. Have to say v excited about this software. NextPVR really is the one and only TV solution that just works! But think when this integration comes together, even sexier!

Thanks all, I will let the guru's chat.

Always up for testing but of course I am an old dinosaur running on xp. Mind you quite a few others are too!

Seems to be some probs connecting over network?

I would have thought as you are doing that this is a good one to solve as the beauty of NextPVR with xbmc is to have a NextPVR back-end? Which ultimately works over a network Wink

cheers
