Vaguely similar to this thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...every-week
.. which I never did anything with, I've found that The Unit, on TV3 every Thursday at about midnight, always stops recording after just shy of 10 minutes. Sub, I wondered if you had any suggestions (like last time) or things I should do before the next recording occurs, after which I'll post the logs etc. I'm at work right now so will post the current logs later, which should have last the most recent instance of this problem.

This is the only show it happens with and I've tried deleting and recreating the recording (I think).

Cheers

Version is 2.5.5.

I just had a look at this on my computer. There are two recordings of The Unit - 4/10/12 and 12/10/12. The one from 4/10 is 10 minutes long, and the one from 12/10 recorded successfully for 1h 20m (I use 5 mins pre and 15 mins post padding). Hopefully the logs from both are here?

Your nrecord.log didn't got back as far as the 4th, but I could see it in the ndigitalhos log, and it appears to have been started without problem at the correct time, and stopped at the correct time. The recording the next week looks the same.

I can only really see two possibilities, either your device lost it's signal lock at 10 minutes into the recording (weather or something), or TV3 changed something about the broadcast stream midway through, like changing the audio/video PIDs. If it is the latter, its not a very easy sort of problem to investigate, and will probably mean needing to capture a full transport stream from the The Unit for closer analysis.

Hi
This has happened again, channel 3 again, Modern Family, 7.25pm-8.15. Nothing else scheduled to record on the same night (well, according to the guide the following week). Recording is 9m 59s long only. Hasn't been consistent - not every recording of this season of MF has been affected - This might be the 2nd or 3rd, with 1-2 being ok.

Version is now 2.5.9.

It appears that someone stopped watching Live TV on this tuner at 19.35 ... this appears to have affected the recording. Beyond that, I haven't a clue. Sorry.

wodger you have a daily recording "3 News" recording during that time that looks suspicious

2013-02-15 17:55:11.255 [DEBUG][4] locked=0, present=0, strength=0, quality=0 (took 0ms to check)

Are these failing everyday? Maybe that is the source of the problem.

Hmm. My 3 News recording would have stopped at this time (I have 30+ mins of padding on this recording so I get Campbell Live in the same file). This definitely makes sense. Not sure that it explains the other instances of this problem, but maybe it's only a similar looking problem but not actually the same. Bugger I can't check if the 3 News recording was successul or not as it will have been overwritten.

BUt no one was watching live TV. We hardly ever use that feature. Would have been dealing with the kids at that time of the evening.

Very hard to find these when they happen as I often don't come to watch recordings until weeks later (and God, the ability to do that has changed my life Smile ).

I think I'll write a script that notifies me somehow when it finds files of a certain size on the recordings drive, as I would never intentionally make a 10 minute recording.

Tonight's episodes of 3 News and Modern Family were fine. Go figure.
