Hello,

I've recently installed NextPVR to use with my Happauge HVR-2250 TV tuner. I'm not having any problems getting a video feed, but I haven't been able to get any audio with live TV. The audio stream is identified as AC3. My audio renderer is set to default.

So far I've downloaded, installed, and tried decoders from AC3Filter, CCCP, and SAF6. Nothing has worked. I really don't know where to go from here. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the npvr.log and I'll take a look.

I was in the same situation the other night.. I basically ended up switching most of my decoders (if not all) over to the LAF one (not sure on the spelling -- part of the SAF suite).. I didn't initially have any luck with that but I think I unchecked the box at the bottom of the decoders settings page entitled "Only used mapped audio decoders during .ts playback" and I think that was what fixed my issue -- audio was fine after that.. at least for NPVR -- XBMC was another story (no sound)..

And by reproduce the problem, I'm guessing you just mean start it up, have it not work, and close it down? I did that, and then zipped up the log file.

Thanks for the help.

Then I would suggest trying the registry DWORD setting

HKLM\SOFTWARE\NPVR\PreferAC3=1

ON 64 bit that is in the Wow6432Node

I'm not really familiar with editing registry values. I can get into the editor, but that's about the extent of it. There is no HKLM\ directory. I've found a Wow6432Node folder, but it is in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ directory. There are only two items in there. (Default) and flash.

HKLM = HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Here are the steps to add it to the registry:

  1. Open regedit.exe
  2. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
  3. Expand "SOFTWARE"
  4. On a x64 system, expand "Wow6432Node"
  5. Expand "NPVR"
  6. In the right hand pane, right mouse click and select "New" -> DWORD (32 bit) Value"
  7. Change the value name to "PreferAC3"
  8. Double click the value name to modify the value.
  9. Set the value to "1"

Alternatively, used the attached reg file. Just unzip and double click the appropriate (32/64 bit) reg file for your system.
