Hi Support

I have been using v2.5.9 since a few days after it was released on my PVR and I seem to have a small problem.
When I try to play a DVD it starts at a very small size. I guess this is native 720x576 pixels which then displays about 1/4 size on a HD screen.
So then I can't find any way to make it full screen without getting out a keyboard and right click onto 'Aspect Ratio' and click on 'Full Screen'.
I cannot do this with an MCE remote and it really is a pain.
I have searched all the settings and cannot find anything that will give me a full screen 16:9 display without keyboard intervention.
If only there was a tick box in the right click display menu 'Aspect Ratio' that would stay ticked.

Am I missing something, or is there a way round this problem?

Regards
Bob

What windows are you on, and what renderer are you using?

Hi Support
I use Windows 7 but now I can say I have a confusing situation.
I run a desktop PC with Win 7 Pro with a copy of NextPVR 2.5.9 just for testing and video editing connected by DVI to a 1920x1080 monitor
I also run a Media Center PC with Win 7 Home Premium with a copy of NextPVR 2.5.9 connected by HDMI to a HD TV 1920x1080.

The confusion is that the Media Center PC is set up with exactly the same setting as the desktop with renderer VMR9
On the Desktop DVD's play full screen absolutely no problem but I never use it for this...
On the Media Center PC DVD's play at what I guess is 720x576...
If I change the renderer on the Media Cener PC the following happens;
EVR shows full screen but 4:3 display
VMR9 720x576 resolution
VMR9 Custom no display only sound
VMR9 FSE no display only sound
VMR7 no disply only sound
Overlay shows full screen but 4:3 display

I really don't understand why this should happen

The both machines have the renderer's set to VMR9 in Decoders and DVD
They both have MPEG2 Decoders set to Microsoft DTV-DVD in Decoders and DVD

Any ideas how I can get the Media Center PC to play DVD's full screen at startup?

Many thanks
Bob

I suspected you were using VMR9 but thought you might be using XP. But since you run W7 you should use EVR, that's the only sensible. You might want to try another decoder for MPEG2 video, I'v had good results with Cyberlink PDVD12. What is default aspect ratio set to in Settings->Misc? You are aware that you can cycle the aspect ratio with F7 key during playback?

Hi Reddwarf

You have just cracked my problem thanks, I missed the default aspect ratio in Settings-> Misc, it was set to 'Auto' no wonder it played at 720x576 I changed it to fill and now it starts full screen just fine.
I have taken your advice and changed the Renderer to EVR on both machines and it seems to work just fine with the Microsoft Decoder, but If I have problems I will try to get the Cyberlink decoder.

Many thanks for your help.
