No EPG, Subtitles always on, changing channels doesn't work

Just a few minor issues

I've searched through the forums but haven't come across anything that solves my issues yet

I'm using XBMC Frodo RC1 on windows (7 64bit) and NextPVR 2.5.9 with the timeshift patch. Next PVR i set to use DVB/ATSC EPG

I can't get EPG to work on NextPVR. It takes about 20 minute to scan all the channels then returns now and next and that is it. I'm in the UK looking at standard UK satellite. All the channels have been found, but the data does not pull back. On XBMC I can see 'now' and 'next', but nothing on the timeline view (not even the now and next in the timeline) Any thoughts? Any threads I've missed? I've little doubt it is user error!

When I watch anything in XBMC I get subtitles as default and I cannot see any options that allow me to turn them off. I'd like them off by default and ideally come on when I mute, but I'm happy to switch them on manually in that situation. Can anybody help on this?

Finally if I am watching live tv in XBMC and I change channel it freezes the channel I am on and doesn't change to the new one. Any thoughts or things I can try? When I do it in the NextPVR client it will change channels (good 5-10 seconds of delay, but it will change). My last thought was to switch timeshift off but I couldn't see the option in XBMC.

Unfortunately FreeSat in the UK doesn't use the standard DVB-EPG (other than Now/Next). Instead it uses a proprietary system which NextPVR doesn't understand. The only real option is switching to using XMLTV for these channels.

From memory, if you click on the video to get the OSD controls, then click on the audio button, one of the options in the list is 'enable subtitles'. Untick that.

Or DVBGuide - stick with version 0.95 or earlier though, as the xmltv it produces isn't standard (and doesn't work with NPVR) in the newest release. It can scan the satellite EPG data about 30 seconds.

The only real option is switching to using XMLTV for these channels.

Ahh!! That's where I am going wrong! Thanks guys. I've been using 7MC for TV up to now and it sets it all up for you, hence my lack of knowledge on this one. User error again! I'll try all these later tonight when there is no chance of being assaulted by the children as I do it Thanks for all the responses, really appreciated.
