Hi Guys,

I'm looking to get nextprv set up in anticipation of the next xbmc release. I currently use this card http://www.avermedia.com/product/Product...aspx?Id=22
with wmc but the lack of mpg hardware encoding is im assuming why its not working with nextpvr. Can anyone recommend a reasonably inexpensive tv card that will do the job. Thanks a lot.

Almost any analog capture device will work, hardware encoding or no. See post #2 of the tech support sticky, in the Analog Devices section.

What am I missing? Has analog TV been switched off in Ireland ?

Do you need a DVB-T tuner device to get over-the-air TV?

Signatures don't show unless the forum user selects the option in their own profile. I'm not sure it's enabled by default.

If you are talking about Saorview then you need a DVB-T/MPEG4 device which I don't think most DVB-T tuners support. You may need a DVB-T2 device which do support MPEG4. From what I have read UK Freeview HD STBs are able to receive Saorview.

The encoding shouldn't be an issue (e.g., MPEG2/MPEG4) the important thing is whether it's DVB-T or T2.

The encoding is only important for playing back live or recorded streams as NextPVR records in TS form.

The reason the Saorview site states an STB or DTV must support MPEG4 is because they use hardware decoder chips - NextPVR obviously uses software decoders for playback so any card that can tune to what ever standard they use (T or T2) should work.

Cheers,
Brian

Hi Folks,

I've made a little more progress. The avermedia hybrid card was appearing as a digital device, I've since installed softpvr and added to the analog xml file. The device is now appearing as analog and digital, however when I run a scan in the analog setup screen, its still not finding any channels.

I've attached the most recent log file, any help would be hugely appreciated.

FYI - Im on UPC cable not saorview -

Thanks a lot..
