I'm pleased to announce the release of MovieTrailers, a NextPVR plugin that allows you to watch a selection of trailers for new and upcoming movies. It supports playback in a variety of resolutions, from 360p (low quality) to 1080p (full HD).

You can download it now from its wiki page.

The plugin currently supports trailers from Apple iTunes Movie Trailers, streaming them instantly, and caching them locally for subsequent viewings. Obviously your internet connection must be fast enough to support this...back of the envelope calculations suggest each resolution requires the following minimum bandwidth:

- 360p - approx 1.5 Mbps
- 480p - approx 2.5 Mbps
- 720p - approx 6 Mbps
- 1080p - approx 10 Mbps

Future versions will likely support proper buffering of trailers, an alternative playback method based on whurlston's YouTube plugin, and background downloading of trailers. Note that (for now anyway) the Apple trailers feed only seems to update once a week at 9AM Monday, GMT.

For feedback and support, please use the 3rd party Plugins area of the forum.

I will try it out tonight or tomorrow (looking forward to it). You know I'm stealing your layout for YouTube right?

Pretty gosh-darned nice! Other than having to bump the font size up a bit, a perfectly working, and visually fantastic plugin... great job!

Thanks folks, glad you all like it.

@whurlston, steal away, just be aware of the font issue as mentioned, but at least it's an easy tweak if people find it too small. I guess it gives a tiny hint as to what Videos+ would have looked like if I'd had the time to work on it more. I still may one day, but I think there's less of a need for it now anyway.

This such a great plugin, I really enjoy using it.
Just had npvr hang on me when navigating in the videos plugin. this is the tail from the log which suggests that the crash was in trailers.

No, your crash has nothing to do with the trailers plugin...it always displays that message even when it exits normally. It's just an exception that's thrown when the proxy that communicates with Apple is closed and it's warning that you wouldn't be able to use it anymore (which doesn't matter as NPVR is closing).

The actual crash is probably down to the image caching in NPVR which is a bit wonky unfortunately. I've seen it fall over quite often when zipping around the video library in icon mode.

Is this expected to work with NMT clients? With the plugin installed I cannot get the NMTs to boot into NPVR.
