Hi All

Totally fed up with trying to get NPVR to work with my XP system, even after a complete fresh install of Windows etc...see my other posts...

I have a Hauppauge Nova HD S2 PCI card at present. This is the device that is causing issues. I cannot get it to tune and scan correctly. It will tune and scan but will miss at least 75% of the transponders. Works fully under Linux and TVHeadEnd.

Can anyone recommend a card that requires little intervention that works. Must work with UK DVB-S2 and all it's vagaries! I am quite happy for USB or PCI suggestions. Even PCIe suggestions are possible.

Many thanks everyone...I really do not want to go back to MythTV on Linux....

Did you try a current Microsoft O/S, that is is the best solution.

Your hardware is also pretty "geriatric"...

Hi

@Martin: I will not pay Micro$oft more money when I have an OS that performs well with the hardware. XP is very well supported still and can see no reason to change. It is still a better OS than W7 which is on my main PC.
@ga_mueller: Quite right, my sig was over 5 years out of date! I have now updated it to reflect the hardware that I am using plus the main server.

Clearly there is no definitive list of supported TV card/device hardware available. This is a great pity. GBPVR in it's day was a well supported usable bit of software. I was really hoping that I could return to the fold and use NPVR to power my XBMC clients. Clearly this is not the case. Shame really...back to Linux I go.....

Thanks guys

We can agree to disagree since IMO XP is absolutely NOT better spefifically playing or recording digital BDA media. MS messed up several things, with XP Pro and MCE

I have a WinTV-NOVA -HD -S2 PCI DVB-S2 card in my test system and I just got it to do a scan and it found 788 channels. Windows 7 though.
