NextPVR able to tune stations wmc shows as encrypted

Why am I able to watch and record shows in nextpvr that windows media center shows as encrypted? Mainly, these are network stations like abc, cbs nbc, and fox. WMC shows these as encrypted, but not in nextpvr. In fact nextpvr picks up many more stations than WMC. I am using a HDhomerun tv tuner. What gives?

The big question is - are these channels actually encrypted, or does WMC wrongly decide that they are encrypted?

WMC respects the broadcasts flag even if the signal is not encrypted.

My thought was that WMC wrongly decided that they were encrypted. Martin, you are saying these channels are flagged to never record? Nextpvr wouldn't respect the same flags? I am able to preview all the stations in the hdhomerun quick tv. So these could be view only flagged? Thanks for the responses.

I am not sure because it isn't really an issue here in Canada (we don't have clear QAM or CableCard as options) but I think it is like Macrovision in the VBI and if the driver ignores it there isn't an issue.

Well it would appear that WMC didn't map the channels correctly. Went into my HDHomerun setup and used that information to enter the channels manually in WMC. All works fine now. NextPVR seems Superior in that respect. Not sure why WMC got it wrong, but glad its working now. Thanks for the help!
