Black screen

I have just received a Hauppauge WinTV-DCR-2650. I was able to get it all set up in WMC, it works fine there. I was able to get my device to show up in NPVR, and I was able to scan in the channels. However, when I switch to Live TV, all i get is a black screen. I can change channels, but nothing but a black screen. I have installed the latest patches and saf 6.0. I have a feeling it is a decoder problem, but I have tried just about every combination. I currently have the video codecs set to Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder and LAV Decoder for the audio codecs.
Any help would be appreciated. I look forward to having this running on xbmc.

What version of Windows are you on? On Win8 the 'Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder' wont work.

Also try setting your audio renderer back to 'system default'.

I have set the audio renderer to default.
I am on Win 7 64 bit.

And did it help?

If not, try doing a recording and check if it ends up zero bytes long, or a valid looking size. If the later, try playing it in Windows media player and other players to see if it contains video.

In WinTV, I can see over 16 channels... in NextPVR, I see the channels (after they scanned) and see shows in the Electronic Program Guide... but when I select a channel (again, one I know works in WinTV) all I see is a blank screen. Assistance is much appreciated, as I'm a "noob" and am trying to get this working with my XBMC setup.

I dont' have any option to record, no ui, only black screen. i can bring up the right click menu but there is no record option. there is a file in my buffer folder that is 0 b and cannot be opened.

Your is most likely done to the decoders. You'd need to post the npvr.log and nrecord.log so we could take a look though.,

I don't mean from live tv. ie, schedule a recording from the TV Guide, or using the Manual Record option in the Recordings screen.

after creating a recording, it shows up on the recordings list, but not in the "recorded" folder, the folder is still empty.
