Hi,

I installed the current version of NextPVR which runs as expected on my 64-bit Windows 7 development machine.

I downloaded and installed the nDroid Service v1.8.4.0 on the dev machine with all defaults, and opened the Windows Firewall (all ports) for nDroid Service exe file. I verified that the service is running.

I installed the Android Client App v1.8.4 from Google Play on my Nexus 7, set the IP address to that of my dev machine running the service and set the password to that for the NextPVR Web app. I am running a Fiddler2 proxy on this machine for debugging Nexus 7 apps. All apps connecting to the Internet run fine with the proxy running.

I received a Username/Password error, which I corrected by setting the correct password on the nDroid service.

Now I receive a "nDroid service upgrade required" message every time I attempt to start the Nexus 7 app.

I would have enclosed a zip of the log files from the Nexus 7, but don't know where they are.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Just discovered the source of the problem from Fiddler:

POST http://10.7.5.51:8790/ HTTP/1.1
x-ndroid-exdata1: admin
x-ndroid-exdata2: 9592e2d64379e29a8eb7b50f8e22efe1
x-ndroid-action: checkstatus
User-Agent: Dalvik/1.6.0 (Linux; U; Android 4.2; Nexus 7 Build/JOP40C)
Host: 10.7.5.51:8790
Connection: Keep-Alive
Accept-Encoding: gzip
Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded

HTTP/1.1 200 Alive and kicking
Server: Microsoft-HTTPAPI/2.0
x-ndroid-service-version: 1.8.2

I downloaded v1.8.4 from http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ity.NDroid.

Will remove my installed version and try again, reporting here when done.

If you edit the config file by hand, you need to restart the nDroid Service for changes to take effect. If you use the nDroid Service Settings utility, the details should be updated automatically when you click 'Save' on the form.

Noticed that previous download was v1.8.2 and Programs and Features showed same installed. Don't know where that came from.

Downloaded v1.8.4 and reinstalled. All is well.

Expect a link to a story about the app shortly.

Ah, right you are. My brain has been juggling lots of things today and I skim read your previous post to the point you said you were going to re-install. I hadn't spotted the service was still 1.8.2.

Good to hear.

good work Brian thanks. initially tested on my galaxy tab 10.1 and mainly ok although now/next is slow to update (could just be my set up)

Will test on the X5 for the ethernet fix shortly when the Mrs stops hogging the main TV..

Thanks. Yeah, I put a bit in the "Known issues" section on the wiki about Now/Next being slow. I don't understand why and have tried several things to speed it up to no avail. A re-write of the code is high on the ToDo list.

OK tested the ethernet on the X5 and live tv works but unfortunately not for previous recordings. when you click 'watch' on a previous recording, it just returns to the list and nothing plays.

Were you able to play recordings with v1.8.1? I found it hit and miss depending on the channel they were recorded from. How many have you tried? Are they HD or SD and also what channels were they recorded from?

I've found using transcoding improves things a great deal but you'll need to wait for the next npvr release.

They play fine in the new ndroid release when using the X5's wifi connection but not when using the X5's ethernet network connection.

In the previous ndroid version, nothing played when using ethernet..

Everything plays ok when using my galaxy tabs on wifi..
