Hoping for some assistance Smile I haven't been here in a super long time but recently I threw my old analog PVR500MCE dual tuner into a Windows 8 box and installed NPVR. I did all the normal stuff to bypass UAC and it looks like everything is working with the exception of a strange video capture issue I am hoping someone might be able to shed some light on.

I can watch live tv, record etc but the video is pixelated and has some very minor skipping. I assume the channels I am getting are still coming in analog (not sure how to test as I don't have an old analog tv to test with) but could it be possible the signal is clear QAM and the analog tuners are able to capture them, just not 100% accurate? Hence the weird pixelation?

I did use the trick of exporting the latest hauppauge WinTv7 software files into the softpvr folder as was previously done (I couldn't find my original cd). The drivers installed are the latest 2.0.48.25037 for the card. Everything really does look like it is working but the encoding is a bit messed up?!!?

Thanks for taking the time to read this... and if you have any suggestions (other than buying a new card Smile ) I would love to hear it. I have attached my logs just in case but from my vantage point, they look good.

I think that sounds like the problem you get with a Hauppauge PVR card on a 64 bit OS with more than 3GB and a new card is needed. You can confirm by using msconfig to temporarily setting your max. memory to 2GB.

Hey Martin,

Thanks for the reply.

I've read some people had that issue but sadly I only have 1GB of Ram in this box. It is a 32bit OS running on a 64bit system though but I dont think that's where this issue stems from. I am hoping for a simple fix like that though Smile. I wonder if dropping the driver version down or grabbing the WinTV files from something other than the latest version 7 might do the trick.

Thoughts?
