No live TV and only zero length recordings on second attempt

Hi

First i would like to say that NextPVR may be the product i have been looking for, in terms of functionality, ease of use and simplicity. This except for the showstopping problems i am experiencing:

System info first:
Windows 7, fully updated, Different USB tuners: PCTV NanoStick 73e (single tuner), Elgato EyeTV Diversity USB stick (twin tuner), Hauppauge WinTV NOVA DUET (twin tuner).
NextPVR: 2.5.9 with Cumulative Update - January 12, 2013 - NPVR 2.5.9 Patches R2
Provider: Norwegian RiksTV DVB-T with MPEG4 HD streams and HE-AAC audio, unencrypted (free to air) channels set up only only.

Here is how the problem appears:
First i will start live TV and all will be working as expected, then i will press ESC and the main menu appears. From this point live TV will only render a black screen, and all attempted recordings will be zero length. No restarts of NPVR client or Service, will fix the problem, The only thing that i have found to restore normal operation is physically unplugging and replugging the usb tuner. I have tried this on all the three mentioned USB tuners, in combinations one or more tuners attached at the same time. I have also installed NPVR on two different systems and the problem appear the same on both:

1. Shuttle XS35GTV2, 4 GB RAM, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit (Win Mediacenter completely removed as feature).
2. Hp EliteBook 8530p, 4 GB RAM, Windows 7 professional 32 bit.

Comments to attached logs:

2013-02-01 00:56:18.761: I start the first live TV session by. This all works great with picture and sound
2013-02-01 00:56:46.663: I press ESC key to exit from live TV to main menu.

2013-02-01 00:56:53.880: I start the second attempt at viewing live TV, and there will only be black screen. Notice that all subsequent "GetDuration" log entries report "0", like there is no data streaming from the tuner. Probably explains the fact that any recording started after this will also be zero length.

Just a thought - what are you plugging your USB devices into? I was having problems with a PCTV nanostick 290e (DVB-T2) and these went away when I plugged it into a powered hub. I currently have the 290e and a TBS Qbox dvb-s2 running on USB with no problems.

Check if you have following drivers. Ceton recommended me those for my CEton tuner. They are from MS.

Upgrade your USB and PCIe drivers to the latest Microsoft Windows 7 RTM/SP1 hotfixes. The links below discuss a specific scenarios, but contain other fixes as well:

Have you also allowed NDigitalHost.exe through the firewall? Anyway, post new logs with the complete set of logs (including NDigitalHost.log).

BTW, are you aiming to receive only NRK channels?

Hi All, this is the exact same problem that I have with the PCTV NanoStick 73e. I've never managed to get NPVR to work properly for me, but have just tried pvrdiy's suggestion so I will see how that works out.

I can tell you that the latest version of the driver 5.18.0.2 doesn't work at all for me with NPVR, version 3.12.4.0 seems to work best, although it's all very hit and miss. I'll let you know how I get on!

Hi mad-marco, the NDigitalHost.log that you posted back in November 2011 apparently did have something in common with Steinar's (locked=0, present=0, strength=0, quality=-100).

If you haven't already upgraded to NextPVR version 2.6.2 with Current Patch 2, then you should try that next. You might also want to try johnsonx42's suggestion in your 2011 thread (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post423583). If all else fails, you might want to get another tuner.
