Hi

Excuse me if this has been covered elsewhere in the forum, I have searched but without finding a definitive answer.

I am planning on buying a TBS 6984 DVB-S2 PCI-e Quad Tuner to run under Windows 7 64 Bit.

I recall that in the past there were issues with TBS DVB-S cards and the drivers for Win 7. Crucially I seem to think that they could only be used in DVB- S mode only and not DVB-S2.

Have these problems been resolved and how have other users got on with this family of cards please?

This is a significant value purchase and I am not keen to get caught out! I have been happily using Haupaugge cards to date on an old Vista pc but they are limited on DVB-S2 options especially if you want more than one tuner.

Thanks....

I have the TBS 6981, which is the dual DVB-S2 PCIe version. I'm running it with nPVR in Windows 7 x64 with no problems. The TBS cards are one of the few that will do DVB-S2 in nPVR. I have used it on DVB-S2 channels just fine.

i have the TBS-6984, works great Smile

i use to have BSOD with windows with earlier versions of the drivers, but has been stable in windows for about a year now, after driver version 1.0.0.20 or something (version from memory so that could be completely wrong Smile)

Thanks for your input guys.

Having looked around I now see that TBS are now offering an new DVB-S2 Quad card; TBS6985 which is described as the successor of TBS6984.

I'm not sure whether to play safe and go with the TBS6984 which appears to be a tried and tested device or to go for the newer model. I guess that it depends whether anyone else has tried the newer TBS6985 or what benefits/improvements it offers over the earlier model.

Any more thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

In my case, the 6981 was the successor to the 6980 and apparently more stable. If it were me, I think I'd be going to the 6985. The 6984 will be discontinued once stock runs out (as happened with the 6980). Therefore, you will see more driver development for the 6985 in future.
