Winows 8 nPVR 2.5.9 with Kworld DVB-T USB tuner '395U' blue screens

I have a relatively new Windows 8 installation and have been installing NextPVR 2.5.9 (patched with the fix rollup).

I have also just installed a Kworld plusTV DVB-T '395U' USB tuner together with the most recent driver from the manufacturer's site http://global.kworld-global.com.

(I've also added the various bits of dependent software required in the Wiki.)

When I scan for channels as part of the setup for this device windows 8 blue-screens with a KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE after the second block of frequencies has been scanned (no results).

I guess this could be a problem with the driver, but has anyone seen anything similar in nPVR?

Alternatively has anyone had any joy from this tuner on windows 8?

That type of problem will definitely be a driver problem.

I have two different Kworld tuners which are cheap and basic but work well enough for me. If reinstalling the driver dosent work there are other things which may or may not help!

The Kworld TV software is poor but does TV work using that. Have you tried an older driver if there is such a thing for Windows 8. Another thing to try is to uninstall all the Kworld software then point Windows to the CD which came with the device to look for the driver. If that doesn't work does it find anything on the Internet instead. Another thing to try is to temporarily install NextPVR on a PC running an older version of Windows and see if the tuner works ok.
