It looks like you had some NextPVR software running when you tried upgrading, and it was unable to install all the files. Stop everything, then run the installer again.

No, that wasn't it -- I'd done that (and did it again to be certain).

What did work was to delete all .exe, .dll and .ax files from the programme directory and re-run the installation. Comparing the two sets of files, NUtility.dll is different. Perhaps the installer doesn't detect that this needs updating from the version shipped in "NPVR 2.5.9 Post-R2 Rollup 2"?

The other change is that GenreLite.exe and OvTool.dll have disappeared. Presumably these are no longer needed?

The Details tab on the installer would have explained why it didn't copy, you may have touched NUtility and changed the time on it

GenreLite is a utility I wrote that works with SearchLite you might not be using it anymore.

I'm pretty sure it's not a problem with the release, but I'll keep an eye out for other posts, and check it out in more detail if others report this problem.

I don't know what GenreLite.exe is. It's not one of the application files.

I don't think I've ever included OvTool.dll in the installer. I did post it a couple of times in the past for people trying to use the Overlay video renderer. An upgrade would have caused this file to disappear, but you deleted all the files, which explains why this file is no longer there.

I suspect this unhandled exception may be related!
I occurs as soon as I open Channels or Devices pages in settings.

NPVR was definitely stopped before I did the upgrade.

Uninstalling and reinstalling fixed it.

This might be a case where people are using the built-in Windows compressed folder functions to unzip the latest patch archive, and they are failing to "Unblock" the file first. When you do this, all the files get extracted with the current date and time, rather than the date and time when they were compiled. Then later when a new version is installed, the installer won't overwrite the "newer" files. In the past there was probably a sufficiently long delay between the last patch archive for a given version and the release of the next version, so even those who made this mistake had no consequences. This time though, people were still installing the latest Post-R2 Rollup 2 in the days leading up to the release of 2.6.2.

sub, does the installer you use allow you to flag some files as "force overwrite"? If you, flagging all the files that go into the program directory that way would solve this potential issue. Either that, or just make sure you "touch" all the .exe, .dll and .ax files for each version before building the installer.

I wonder if the new utility you moved patching too preserves sub's date and time?
