First time user and not at all knowledgeable about the workings of android......

Seemed to install ok server and client end (samsung tab 8.9)

A question about navigation "The top right of the nDroid (TE) screen shows various tabs for navigating the different views..."
This is where my lack of android experience may show - It seems to stack the existing screen when an option is picked. How is one supposed to navigate?
i.e. I press 'recordings' then 'media' then 'recordings' these seem to pushed down on the stack (to use a very old description) and pressing the back key takes me backwards, bringing nack the previous screens. In fact pressing the recordings key a few times does the same. The snag being that it is too easy to press the back key too many times and exit the app.

I'm also getting at times an empty screen for TV listings, but ignore this for now, it may be me and I haven't tried it much as yet.
I did notice that touching the channels at the left side did not always change the content on the right.

Sorry to be a bit of a thickie. I'll try harder later today with luck.

thanks for your time and expertise

Good to know.

Quote:A question about navigation "The top right of the nDroid (TE) screen shows various tabs for navigating the different views..."
Looking at it, my use of the word "navigating" was perhaps a little misleading at this stage. Perhaps I should've added the words "in future, when it's fixed". Big Grin

At this stage, what you're seeing is expected - I still haven't go to grips with how these tabs work but it's a high priority to fix it. BTW, your use of the word "stack" is actually accurate - in Android programming terms, it's called the "activity back stack".

I've seen this a few times, I'll look into it.

Quote:I did notice that touching the channels at the left side did not always change the content on the right.
I haven't noticed that but I'll look out for it, thanks.

On the contrary, I'm looking for as much feedback as possible and the app, at the moment, is kind of held together with sticky tape and string.

Thanks for taking the time to take a look at it.

Cheers,
Brian

It installed fine for me too - except that I still get the "roll-back" error during the service install - although it does install properly. I'll have a good play with it after the footie tonight.

Thanks for the confirmation Alex. Still not sure what that roll-back error is but it doesn't seem fatal. I'll check the installer when I have time.

A couple of things Brian...

I'm seeing the same MON TUE MON TUE as Guzzi948.

I can't navigate back to the TV Guide by tapping on the top left 'menu bar'.

In the TV Guide, if I tap on any channel in the left-hand column, it always shows the programme info for the channel currently at the top of the visible scrolling list.

It still doesn't like to be rotated into portrait orientation.

I like the blue underscore on the left hand side of the 'menu bar' (as in recordings) - maybe you could get rid of the full width blue bar with the current recording type and free up a bit more display estate? The same would apply to Media.

Also, maybe use an underscore to highlight the currently selected item on the right hand 'menu bar'.

In recordings view, I'd find it useful if you displayed the day of the week as well as the time and date for each recording.

Yes, me too but I hadn't spotted it as I was too busy concentrating on other areas of the app. I know what's causing it.

I should have that fixed for the next update.

I haven't seen it do that - not sure what would cause it.

No, I'm still concentrating on landscape at the moment and might lock it to that for the next few development releases.

I'll give it a try and see how it looks. The media views will be getting a complete make-over at some point and I've never liked the full width blue bars in them anyway.

That underscore is actually done by Android (I didn't ask it to do it). I agree it's a good indicator and I'm sure it'll be a simple setting to get it to do it automatically on the right-hand side.

OK, good idea - I just need to make a small change to the date formatter.

Thanks for the feedback.

Brian

I'm not sure if I explained that properly, so...

In TV Guide, I scroll down the list of channels until BBC FOUR is the first visible channel in the list - if I then tap on ITV3 or any other visible channel , I get the programme listing for BBC FOUR...

Then if I tap on any of the programmes listed, I get the details from the one at the top of the list.

As a seperate observation, it would be good if the programme details area was auto-populated with the current programme in the list when a different channel was selected

I can't reproduce that here. I have been making a few changes to things on my development version but I can't think of anything that would cause that to happen....unless it's to do with the "navigation" issue causing multiple copies of views to exist. Perhaps one is interfering with another. If that's the case it's fixed. Big Grin Well, urrm, possibly maybe.

Yes, it's annoying isn't it? I've been meaning to fix that for a while.

On a positive note, I can know swipe through the different TV Guide views in the same way as the Recordings and Media views. Things are looking a bit more uniform. Smile

I think that was what I was trying to describe with "I did notice that touching the channels at the left side did not always change the content on the right"

I haven't had any chance to try anything else - galloping gut rot has bee keeping me trotting ;(
