hi sub,

I just formatted my server and installed server 2012 on it. nextpvr seems to work on it but it cannot find my tuner in the gui.

attached is the npvr.log file, which does see the device.

I haven't installed wintv7 (I don't have the install disc with me so it won't let me install it, god knows why they require this when you are using their hardware....)

anything I can do to make npvr find it?

TIA

I seem to remember that the server editions of windows does not support bda drivers, could it be something like that?

And I seem to remember folk reporting that Google can find ways to get BDA up and running on servers.

Indeed. I haven't done this myself but I seem to remember that you have to install some windows components to add support, in addition to the driver itself.

BDA components for Windows Server 2012:

Navigate to the following folder on the server:
Code:
C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\bda.inf_*
and copy the bdasup.sys to "C:\Windows\inf".

In your SysWOW64 folder, there is a subfolder for your location. For me, that is "en-US" but adjust as needed.
Copy the following files from Windows 8:

Code:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\en-US\MSVidCtl.dll.mui
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\en-US\kstvtune.ax.mui
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\en-US\kswdmcap.ax.mui
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\en-US\ksxbar.ax.mui

Copy and register the following files from Windows 8:

Code:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\bdaplgin.ax
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\kstvtune.ax
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ksxbar.ax
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Mpeg2Data.ax
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\mpg2splt.ax
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\MSDvbNP.ax
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\MSNP.ax
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\MSVidCtl.dll
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\psisdecd.dll
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\psisrndr.ax
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\VBICodec.ax
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\vbisurf.ax
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\WSTPager.ax
Run the following command from an elevated command prompt:
Code:
rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection "C:\Windows\inf\bda.inf",,1

If you want 64 bit BDA stuff working, you need to copy/register the same files from the System32 folder.

It's been a couple of months since I did it but I think that's everything that I used. If it doesn't work, I'll test it again.

This page has a download to a script and Windows 8 files for BDA support on Server 2012. I haven't tried this myself but I've seen posts on some forums claiming success using it. Might be useful if you don't have a Windows 8 system to copy the files from. YMMV

That's where I got the list of files I needed. I copied my own Windows 8 files though. Thanks, I couldn't find that page again.

cheers guys the zip file from

http://www.tenniswood.co.uk/technolo...s-server-2012/

worked a treat. should update the wiki to include that like. Had to use region as "en-US" (assumed it was grabbed from that region, which worked fine).
