anybody using a windows media center remote with 3rd party IR app?

still trying to get this, http://wiki.xbmc.org/images/e/e2/Hpremote.jpg, to work with my hauppauge colossus but need a 3rd party application that can get it to change channels because since the colossus isnt a tv tuner but a capture card im going through this 8 month headace, im trying to control a pace rng150n stb and am currently trying to get ir server suite setup just right but something is slighly off, im getting help on the irss forum but i havent struck gold yet, does someone have this setup or know an easier way that they can clearly explain to me, all i wanna do is record some shows while im not home.

When I had Comcast service, I had to get a different IR receiver/blaster to control the Pace device than I had been using to control a regular STB. I forget the exact details, but I think the Pace device was just for analog channels and wasn't a full STB. It had only coax output. I think the one I bought was an HP. It had two ports, but only one actually worked. When I switched to Fios, I went back to the old one to control the STB.

This box has hdmi and component. It does work with my ir receiver and blaster. I had a ati HDTV wonder with s video input and I had it setup and changing channels in windows media center

what's working/not working? have you tried different placements of the ir eye on the stb? mine has to sit an inch away and to the side of my stb's eye, seemingly completely out of it's view, but it works flawlessly that way...
my stb eye is ULTRA sensitive, so placing ir blaster in line of sight of stb eye overloads it, so i have to place it over an inch away on front..
comcast stb boxes can be tricky, but i believe they all can be ir controlled now..[new ir protocol]
did you 'learn' the stb codes from remote or using pre-installed ones that come with irss?
