I'm trying to use x-newa with the latest andoid version of xmbc. I can install but the configure option is greyed out and the plugin doesn't work. I'm running xmbc on my nook hd+. I can use sub's pvr option but x-newa allows me to stream hd live tv on my windows laptop without stutter while sub's plugin stutters.

Is there anyway to get me you xbmc.log from your device? I know x-newa doesn't support the touch responses very well but the greying out could be something else. If you are using an Android player that uses MX Player, I am not sure that is supported either, since I call the the built in player.

Do you have an sdcard inserted?

I don't know enough about about Android but it look like XBMC is telling x-newa that there is one for reading and writing the ini file, I search for various locations.

10:59:49 T:39906352 NOTICE: /mnt/sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/files/.xbmc/userdata/x-newa.ini
10:59:49 T:39906352 NOTICE: /mnt/sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/files/.xbmc/addons/script.xbmc.x-newa/x-newa.ini

If you have a working x-newa.ini from another system, if you can connect to your Nook and copy it into userdata it might work.

Yes - /mnt/sdcard would normally be the root of an SD card (if installed). It looks like they've hard-coded the path and they're not checking to see if exists and just assuming there will be one.

Cheers,

Thanks Brian that helps. Looking closer in the logs I see that the profile is hard coded to sdcard,

10:58:31 T:22263632 NOTICE: special://masterprofile/ is mapped to: /mnt/sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/files/.xbmc/userdata

@donschjr if you can edit a python file in XNEWA_Settings.py find the line

self.configpath = os.path.join(xbmc.translatePath('special://profile'), self.INI_PATH)
and change profile to temp ie:
self.configpath = os.path.join(xbmc.translatePath('special://temp'), self.INI_PATH)

I am not sure if this will persist after a shutdown though it will write to

10:58:31 T:22263632 NOTICE: special://temp/ is mapped to: /data/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/cache/temp

Actually Martin I think there might be more to it.

According to this page https://nookdeveloper.zendesk.com/entrie...torageLocs looking at the table it suggests the Nook HD+ version of Android uses /mnt/sdcard as the root of the internal storage and /mnt/ext_sdcard for the external (removable) SD card (if one exists).

If that's the case then /mnt/sdcard should always be valid on a Nook HD+.

It might help if donschjr installs something like Astro File Manager and checks for existence of files etc.

Cheers,
Brian

Thanks again Brian. I'll go back to my other suggestion to try placing a valid x-newa.ini in the userdata folder
