I am brand new to this as I just installed npvr. First a little information. I am running win7 in the US and I access TV via OTA. The tuner that I have is the 2 tuner HDHOMERUN which has both ATSC and QAM turners. My first problem was that when I tried to scan the QAM channels nothing was found. This drove me crazy for a while but I decided to scan the ATSC channels even though there are none in my area. To my surprise the system registered 55 channels, some of these do not exist. Now to the problem. I just wanted to test the live tv function which is when I get the above error message. I have no clue as to why since I have not and am not recording. My only choice was to exit. Thanks.

Can you reproduce the problem and post the npvr.log/nrecord.log files?

I should mention that several minutes pass between the time I click on live tv and when the error arises. But as far as posting I'm afraid I don't know how to do that. Let me know how and I will oblige. Thank you.

Hi. The logs should be at C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Logs unless you're running XP. You can send the Logs folder to a compressed folder with a right-click, then attach that to a post by pressing "Go Advanced" at lower right and using the button that looks like a paperclip. OTA channels are ATSC these days, QAM channels are digital cable.

Interesting about the ATSC being OTA digital the HDHOMERUN installation only indicated "digital antenna" so I learned something. Anyway thanks for the info and I hope what I'm sending is correct.

Still no logs I'm afraid? After pressing "Go Advanced" and then the button that looks like a paperclip, you might need to press the "Browse" button, navigate to the location of the zipped folder on your PC, select it, and click "Open." Another thing: Under Settings/Misc, is "Live TV Buffer" set to a valid directory, i.e. to a folder that actually exists on your PC?

Well I did all that but unlike in an email there was no evidence of an attachment. But when I clicked again on the paperclip it acknowledged that I "owned" an attachment? I do have "livetvbuffer". Spelled that way and it happens to be on my desktop. When I click on the paperclip now the attachment information is still there as it was before. Also when I do that and close it I get this mini blank window right here on my reply. What is that? So I see no way that I can do anything else to make that attachment go forward. Am I missing something?

Did you zip the log files? It wont accept a .log file extension.

Ok that's the answer. I now also know what the blank window was ---- it shows the attachment. So this time the log should come through. Also now when I try to go to live tv nothing happens. Just a black screen. I did happen to make a change to the recordings setting by checking "use background recording service" could that have caused the change. Thank you for your help.
