It seems that some files selected through the recordings view won't stream to my android phone. The only possible pattern I can find is that it doesn't like kids programs, which I guess could translate to programs of 10-15 mins or less. the weird twist to this is that I can navigate to the same file through the video menu and it will play fine.
no logs as it happened at kiddy bedtime, but reproducible - what do you need?

Reproduce, zip and attach nDroid service logs and give me approx time of when you tried it.

Do you have any transcoding enabled for recordings? The Videos menu uses the nDroid Service streaming code as does Recordings (if transcoding is set to No Transcoding). If transcoding is set for Recordings, it uses the npvr web server.

Cheers,

Sorry false alarm. Explanation if needed: Recordings are listed oldest to newest, but videos are listed newest first. Kids programs are on a keep x many episodes, so oldest are regularly deleted. Choosing the first kids program in the recordings screen it tries to launch a missing recording, while choosing the first recording from the videos list works......

The only question this raises, is when I get the regular (daily?) notification that ndroid has downloaded something. what has it downloaded, if not the latest recordings list?

OK, no problem.

It downloads everything every time as if it was a first-run scenario. I'll check the code to see if I can work out why what your describing could happen.

EDIT: Weird - I'm surprised nobody else has mentioned this. Looking at the code I can't find anywhere that it clears the recordings table in the db before importing the daily data. In other words, it's simply inserting new recordings and leaving everything else still in the database table regardless of whether recordings have been deleted at the npvr end or not. Doh!

It should be a quick fix and I'll get a new release out ASAP. Until then if you use the Clear Data option in nDroid Settings it will start again with empty tables.

Brian

Kind of glad to have found a bug, if not the one I originally thought. Better than just being a bit stupid:o

No not stupid at all, your description was perfect - it didn't take long for me to realise the only possible reason was the way the DB was being updated. I'm not sure why I didn't clear the recordings table right from the start (I do it for the EPG as npvr completely deletes/re-creates the data for that every update).

I'll do a couple more tests and upload a new version tonight.

Cheers,
Brian
