Can play liveTV but not recordings

Hi,

Using version 1.7.7 I can play LiveTV with MX player with no problems. However, trying to play recordings does not work. Getting an error message from MX that the file cannot be played. I can play the same file from ES file explorer with no problems.

The difference that I can see is that when playing liveTV MX automatically is going in S/W Decoder (fast mode) whereas for recordings it is using H/W mode.

Any thoughts?

I haven't quite worked out how MX Player decides how it will do things. Even if I tell it I want HW decoding it seems to always default to SW for me.

If you post the nDroidServiceStreamer.log I'll take a look at what it's trying to do to see if I can work out what the problem is.

EDIT: Remind me what type of Android device you have. Also, what format are your recordings in? My HTC Desire streams SD .ts files without problems but my wife's HTC Wildfire can't handle them. I'm fairly sure my Desire probably wouldn't handle HD files very well but I don't have any to test with.

EDIT2: A bit slow on the uptake - is this possibly a firewall issue?

I had forgot to set up my firewalls to allow for the streaming port 8791.

I assumed that since streaming LiveTV worked that any streaming would work.

Yes sorry, it does confuse matters a bit because Live TV is handled through the npvr web server so obviously you'd have had that port open. I'll try to put some pre-check code in the nDroid app that warns the user if it can't communicate with the nDroid streaming service before it attempts to fire up an external player.
