I'm having trouble with View Live in TV Guide. When I'm on internal network (client), when I click "View Live" on channel 2, a small windows explorer screen opens with the address (which seems to be vlc player within an explorer window):
which obviously doesn't work (it hangs with "Idling...")

When I copy the last piece of the address ("http://192.168.2.100:8866/live?channel=2") and paste it in vlc (open network stream), it plays just fine. I think the address is wrong. What to do?

Wim
p.s. I also have problems streaming outside the network, will start another thread for that.

For the View Live to work outside of your network you need to set the AllowRemoteStreaming attribute in the config.xml file to true.

I am looking into why it is not working....could be something changed in a recent VLC update.......I'll post back what I find out.

I have both <AllowRemoteStreaming> and <AllowRemoteTranscode> set to true in config.xml

Appears VLC changed something which caused the setup to break.....at the same time they enhanced the plugin so I no longer need to use a 3rd party add-on javascript library to provide the controls on the plugin.

Try the attached....it replaces just the streamer.aspx and streamer.cs files.

No, that doesn't solve it although there's a difference: now there's a little red cross in the left top corner (before it said "idling").

I see that the web address didn't change. I think that's also a problem:
The address internet explorer is trying to open is
http://195.241.247.115:8866/streamer/vlc...?channel=2
while I think it should be
http://195.241.247.115:8866/live?channel=2
Or should vlc open instead of internet explorer? If so, how do I do that?

Okay, I copied the last part of the address "http://195.241.247.115:8866/live?channel=2" in internet explorer. Asks me to open or save "live". I saved it, selected default program to open with, selected vlc player. Now when I open the file ""live....", it streams tv. That's why I think the address is wrong.

Next time I open explorere with this address, I again get the option to open or save. When I select open it starts downloading, but doesn't open vlc.

AND, video (other then tv) streaming doesn't work anymore now. VLC's screen stays black.

Wait, now this does work.....don"t know what changed that.
Changing the buffer in vlc in the server does seem to make a lot of difference. With a very short test, I think I can now stream 480x320 without buffering (EDIT: no I can't). Will test some more to be sure.

Changing bitrate does nothing. I have it set to 8K, but no difference.

No, View Live is not working. Apologies for the confusion, I was referring to "VLC's screen stays black" when I wrote "Wait, now this does work...".
