I tested for about two hours last night and another 4 hours today with v0.026 and had the exact same results that johnsonx42 described including a TV picture just like the picture he posted. After installing, I did have to restart the TV to make the app visible. I restarted the TV each time I tried something new to "clear the cache". Also, a couple of times I didn't "log in" and didn't put in an IP Address then starting the app received the same results (that is same result whether I logged in and input and IP Address or not). After spending a couple of hours messing with everything....setup of the TV, setting of the SmartHub, a BIG item is glaring right at me:

THERE IS NO PLACE TO ENTER A PORT#, just the IP address and then a button to sync. Therefore when syncing would get a network error message about poor communications. Just to check I played with other apps and the TV was clearly well connected to the network.

I also would periodically log in to NEWA with my web browser on the computer that hosts NextPVR to (in my case) 127.0.0.1:8866 to make sure that the PVR end of it was still active and working. Bear in mind also, as soon as your app starts, it goes directly to that gray screen (as pictured on johnsonx42's picture on his thread). There's no chance to choose any options of menus or anything. Just the date and time in the top right corner. I am able to exit the gray screen with two remote control buttons: The "SOCIAL" button and the

What I am thinking is that the app is never loading the NPVR service and just sits there displaying, I assume your HTML generated clock and date. So what I am looking at doing since there is no place to input a port#: to edit the HOST file in the c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\host file to redirec xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx local ip to one with a port...Example: In the HOST files put something like:

127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1:8866
or
192.168.0.12 192.168.0.12:8866
or
127.0.0.1 localhosts:8866

I don't know enough about the HOSTS file syntax and how Microsoft Defender reacts to changing the contents of this file without educating myself for a few hours first. Since I don't have a menu input box for the PORT (only for he IP and to SYNC) when I sign into SmartTV, does anyone know how to tell the networking part of Windows 8 how to REDIRECT my 127.0.0.1 to something else like 127.0.0.1:8866? Have I got something here or am I heading down the wrong track?

Anyhow, hope this info does something for you. Meanwhile I will be reading the forum and trying out the latest versions as you post them. And will be keeping an eye out for what you and johnsonx42 come up with.

I am going to go read all the posts that have accumulated in the last few hours and will get the latest download if there is one, for about the next couple of hours.

in the samsung menu there is no port, it only works on port 80. which is fine, the ip i sent you is listening on port 80.

the app will work fine without it being configured, the menu will only show "Settings" and "Exit" but it will load. once its loaded you can go into settings and enter your "Server" (ip or hostname) and the port. the fact that you are getting that grey screen and not seeing the menu is the problem. One I haven't been able to reproduce. I tried adding in the debug window to see whats going wrong, but even that isn't loaded....

I may have to do a special build with everything taken out and slowly add pieces back, but that would require
- someone to test very fast (within minutes of updates) as it will be take a while.
- or getting a hold of a device that is experiencing this issue.

Beta: 0.037 Just 4 lines of Debug Text / Date&Time / Gray Screen / I CAN exit program though.
Got a little better result than with v0.026. With 0.026 I received a blank screen except for the time/date in the top right corner.
With 0.037, I get the screen shown below. Also, I was able to exit the program, back to the SmartTV Apps. I CAN also exit completely out of
SmartTV by pressing the SOCIAL button (for whatever that's worth). Couldn't do much anything else with the remote.

I can test on the spot for you if you like and then wait for you to make changes and test again and again and etc. On Saturday I should be around most of the day. Time difference is: Right now in it should be 1000am on Sunday in Auckland. And it is 5:00pm on Saturday where I am and I can test for the next 5 hours till 10:00pm. You can initiate a free voice or video chat with me any time from now to 10:00pm on Skype or Google. That would be for you, on Sunday from 1000am till 3:00pm your time.

There are 4 ways you can contact me computer to computer and should all be free.

#1
You can call me via Skype. Username is:
live:doddger01 or doddger01@hotmail.com

#2 & #3: (There are two ways you can contact me via Google if you have a gmail (google) email address.)
If you have a gmail account, just sign in to your Google account and go to your email page here: https://mail.google.com If you have speakers and a microphone you can do a search for me down at the bottom left of the email page below the mailbox folders via my email address: which is "doddger01" or "doddger01@gmail.com" without the quotes and that is the number zero not a the letter o. The settings for the microphone and speaker is located at the cogwheel symbol at the top right hand side of the page. Click on the cogwheel symbol and then click on SETTING and then on CHAT and you will see the config options for your mic and speaker. Works great if you already have it setup.

#3
If you use Google Plus, you can create a "Hangout" within Google+ and invite me to it for real time voice/video chat. It rings my computer like a phone. User name isi doddger01@gmail.com

#4
You can email me and hopefully I will hear my Tom's Hanks version of "You've Got Mail" sound off on my laptop. Then we can just rapidly exchange emails.

interesting, some of the angular code appears to be running... (angular is the templating framework im using what converts {{NowDate | date:'EEE,....}} into actual text).

i need to add a way to upload the complete log to pastebin or a server or something. Would make solving issues a lot easier, and maybe actually show why its not working on 2011 devices (probably a bug in angular)

fwiw I installed that version on mine this morning, and I get exactly the same output. Those newX, newY lines repeat every 10-15 seconds, I'm guessing that's the screen saver? beyond that, same as before, no key does anything.

at least we know my 2011 Blu-Ray and dodger's 2011 TV behave exactly the same way.

yes, ran the app 2 or 3 times after installing it this morning. I'll run it again right now.

edit: just ran it, waited about a minute then exited, and now I just launched it again and will leave it running for awhile.
