I've tried to read a ton of posts about using the HVR-950 and can't seem to find help. I've scanned for channels and they show up on the list but I get a black screen. I've tried changing the video decoders to a few different ones, LAV, the ones from SAF and still nothing. Please help.

if you do a recording do you get a file ?
can you play the file back in another player ?
have you set your live tv buffer folder ?
Zip and attach your logs folder
NPVR Directories
NPVR has a program directory and a data directory. By default:
[PROGRAM] = "C:\Program Files\NPVR" (32-bit versions of Windows)
[PROGRAM] = "C:\Program Files(x86)\NPVR" (64-bit versions of Windows)

[DATA] = "C:\Users\Public\NPVR" on Windows 6.x variants (Vista, 7, 8)
[DATA] = "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NPVR" on Windows 5.x variants (XP, 2003).

NPVR LOGS
NPVR logs pretty much everything it does in several log files. The default log location is in the logs directory under the npvr data directory:
Windows Vista & Windows 7: C:\users\public\npvr\logs
Windows XP: C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\npvr\logs

I hope that's how you do a log. Also, I can't record because I don't see a record button anywhere nor when I right click. I made sure I changed the buffer folder after installation, the program had asked me to do that.

Dd you select the decoders that you installed in NextPVR?

Yes. I tried a few different decoders. Also used the exact same ones that I used for wintv7, which works fine. They just don't seem to work with npvr.

For U.S. over-the-air digital channels, the only decoders you have to worry about are for MPEG2 Video and AC3 Audio. What Windows version are you running? Windows 7 has a perfectly good Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder that you could use for MPEG2. Looks to me like you must have uninstalled WinTV7, which includes some good decoders. But you selected those on NextPVR's Settings/Decoders page and they didn't work? I see that you haven't installed the DirectX end-user runtimes, which might possibly be part of the problem: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...requisites

[Edit] Windows 8 users reportedly need the full version of the DirectX runtimes (however you should've got that with SAF6): http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/...px?id=8109

I am running Windows 8. And I did already download saf6. But I'm not sure about the directx. I'll have to check it out
