I dont know you but I love movie trailers, sometimes more than the movie itself. Having said that, would it be possible to create a plugin that could download trailers for coming movies? I wish I knew how to code for something like that. I better leave it to those here who have done all those cool plugins we use today.

i was going to add this to my videos, but quicktime changed a few things and you can no longer download their trailers, all the files are only about 256k, and then when you open that file, the trailer is downloaded, so i gave up.

I'm still able to download and play any trailer from apple. I'm using quicktime 6.5 pro. The only problem is when playing full screen

You gave up too easy Reven. You need a little perl program called GoGetEmAll.

I've been running this once a week for the last 6 months and haven't had a problem with getting Quicktime movie trailers.

I just set a scheduled task to kick off at about 2am in the morning on Sundays and it does the rest.

GoGetEmAll works pretty well. It does take a while to download the trailers, and it does check to see if you already have the trailer.

Hey Reven

Not that you have anything better to do than serve this its-never-enough community Wink but did you get to look into this?

KingArgyle, are you using this in conjunction with an MVP, and if so, what player are you using to watch/transcode the trailers?

This would be a very cool plug-in! Who doesn't love movie trailers?!

Thanks!

I get trailers for some movies to show the family. mainly if it is something interesting that I might take them to see. What I do is;
1) Go to the regular apple site to view it.
2) View source of the web page and find and select the actual URL for the file. (simular to http://images.apple.com/movies/wb/the_is...nt_480.mov)
3) I open quicktime player and <File> <Open URL in new player> and past that string into it. Then <File><Save as> and pick make movie self contained.
4) Then I use TMPGEnc to reencode to MPEG2 at a high bitrate (7000)so no reencoding artifacts show up.

It wouild be great to automate this, and tie it in to the theater listing plugin! Just brouse a theater, then look and say "What the heck is that movie, and hit play trailer!!!!!"
