Hi All,

I recently decided to move all my NextPVR recordings to a different hard drive to free up my other drives to store more movies.

I can't seem to get XBMC to find the new location. It won't pull up the recordings. I went into NextPVR and changed the recording directory to the new location as well as the media folders to the new location.

What am I missing here?

Can you see all your recordings listed in NextPVR? If so, then you should also see them in XBMC.

If you cant seem 'em there, then you're not going to see them in XBMC either.

Did you manually move your recording directory? If so, then NextPVR couldn't find the files any more and assumed you deleted them. If that's the case, you'll probably have to try editing your recording-backup.xml, to update the filenames to point to the new location, and import them from the file.

Yes, I manually moved them in Windows.

I'll try your suggestion and see what happens.

Thanks.

OK, next question: Where do I find the recording-backup.xml file?

OK, I believe I found the recording-backup.xml file at C:\users\Public\NPVR, but I am not sure what to do with it. It just says:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<recordings> </recordings>

What do I put in there? What is the syntax? I have about 295 files in 11 folders.

If that's all you've got, then it's done an EPG update since you manually moved them. (ie, so it exported an empty list, since you have no recordings in your database).

If you're lucky, you'll still have either recording-backup.xml.1 or recording-backup.xml.2 containing your list of recordings? If not, then you've probably waited to log before telling us, and you're probably out of luck.

If you don't have a huge number of recordings, you can import them individually from Settings->Recording->Import. Just select each .ts file, and NextPVR will read the metadata from the file and load it into the database.

If doing that is too much, then you can try the batch file I've attached here. Just put it in the top of your new recordings folder, and it will search all the sub-dirs for recordings. It was written for GB-PVR (not by me, no idea who did), but NextPVR knows how to read the generated file; just hit Ctrl-C to break when it says it's going to import the recordings as it will try to launch GB-PVR.
