I have a few DVDs that I've converted to MPEGs that play fine in media player, but when I play them in gbpvr they play in fullscreen and cut off the sides of the video (instead of displaying in wide screen). How do I fix this?

Live TV and TV recordings work fine.

download ffdshow from sourceforge or just google it. click in the config "enable ffdshow" (or something along those lines, under "playback&quotWink. open up "video configuration" (or something along those lines, under the ffdshow folder on the start menu). under that there is "size and aspect", click that, and check the button to keep the original aspect ratio. that should do it.

Thanks, Reven. It looks like that fixed the problem for *some* of my videos when viewing them on my machine, but even those are still off when I try to view them on my TV through the Media MVP. It's also weird that some of the mpegs are still off when viewing them on my machine.

Do you know of anything else to try?

Run your mvp software set it to 16:9 display instead of 4:3. That fixed it for me as far as viewing on the mvp side.

Do you just run the MVP services, change the aspect ratio, then kill the services so gbpvr kicks back in? I did that but it still looks like it's off. Did you have to make any other adjustments?

What's strange is that the videos play perfectly through the MVP service with the aspect ratio set to 4:3. 16:9 stretched the video a bit.

I don't know, but when ripping dvd's i had the same problem.  Most dvds i had was 16:9 ratio so when i played them back on the mvp the video was too big and cut off. I stopped gbpvr.  UNPLUG the media mvp and go to pc start the hauppauge service(you know like you were going to use it). PLUG MVP BACK IN.. Go to the tv..move to configration change to 16:9 save or confirm changes..  Now power off media mvp(Don't unplug or setting will go back to the default when you have to reload so.. don't unplug) just power off, go to pc stop hauppauge service, now start gbpvr mvpmedia server, turn your mvp back on see if it fixes it.  This is the exact steps i took..

Here's something you can check. Try just the hauppauge software. Do what i say above, but heres what i want you to do. After the loading application use the hauppauge software, i just want to confirm that its saving your settings to the dongle.bin. After changing the settings 16:9 confirm etc.. power off your mvp..Not unplug..Way a few seconds then power back on, go back to configuration to see if the settings stayed. I read some where that some people were having problems with the new release and had to go back to version something something 43..What hauppauge version do you have..

Yeah, I actually just tried that. I had to install an older version of the MVP software to get the 16:9 setting to stick. Now the entire movie does display, but it's all stretched looking. It's strange because the videos play perfectly in the MVP software with the 4:3 aspect ratio set (still displays widescreen but not stretched looking), but at 16:9, the videos are stretched looking in gbpvr *and* the MVP software.

Do your videos look fine in gbpvr? How do they look when viewing them in the MVP software at 4:3? I wish I could just figure out a way to get gbpvr to play them like the MVP software does when set to 4:3.
