No sound with HD channels

Running NextPVR 3.1.1. Trying to receive HD TV in the UK, using USB Freeview (HD) DVB-T/T2 TV receiver.

The problem: NO SOUND WITH HD CHANNELS, though HD picture quality is excellent. For all non-HD channels, sound and picture is OK.

In NextPVR/ Settings/ Decoders I've experimented with most if not all of the available options - with no success.

Using the same TV receiver with the software it came with (Total Media 3.5), the HD channels produce sound and picture. But I want to use NextPVR, not TotalMedia.

Very grateful for any suggestions (fairly simple ones, if at all possible). I think others have had this problem - but it's not clear to me how they fixed it. Many thanks in advance.

It's probably down to the HE-AAC decoder you've got selected on the Settings->Decoders screen. Try installing the LAV decoders (from https://code.google.com/p/lavfilters/), and selecting it for the HE-AAC decoder.

Success! Doing what you suggest - selecting the LAV decoder as the HE-AAC decoder - instantly solved the 'no sound' problem. Thank you so much for your quick help. In fact, there was no need to download and install the LAV decoder - already there as an option (one I'd obviously failed to experiment with).

Hello, I am having a similar problem. Recording off a Sky+HD box with a HDPVR Rocket (and a splitter), using Hauppauge Capture 1.135054 (apparently the latest software version). Basically I am trying to get some recordings off the box and into my laptop/external HD. Non-HD channels (live and recorded programmes) record fine. On HD channels video records fine but instead of audio I get a rapid clicking/static sound in both live and recorded programmes. The default audio decoders are ArcSoft Audio Decoder HD (for AAC) and Hauppauge MPEG Layer-1/2 Audio Decoder (for MPEG1). For both AAC and MPEG1 I have the option of LAV Audio Decoder but audio disappears completely when I select these. Do I need different decoders or do I need to update the ones I have somehow (I'm sort of a novice, sorry!). Thanks!

That is really stretch to reopen a 3+ year old post when you aren't even using NextPVR, new threads don't cost anything. I know the Rocket has a 5:1 audio setting, and multi-track audio does playing around with those settings change anything?

I apologize - I am a newbie and thought someone experienced would be able to give me an idea of where to start. BTW, I fixed this by changing the Sky box audio via HDMI from Dolby to Normal. Thanks for your suggestions though.
