Any chances NextPVR will support the RTL2840 chip?
I have an USB DVB-T/C dongle, but NextPVR only detects the DVB-T filter and not the DVB-C filter.

If I'm not wrong, this is not NextPVR issue. The drivers itself have to be BDA-compliant so that third-party tuning applications like NextPVR can tune using the device.

I have the same issue with my AstroMeta USB tuner too, and can only use the inhouse application to tune to DVB-C.

kiwi is correct. It's a driver issue. As long as it's got BDA compliant drivers, NextPVR will be able to use the device, and give you both DVB-T and DVB-C.

Recently AstroMeta released a BDA-compliant driver for DVB-C.

http://www.astrometa.com.tw/integrated_en.html

I'm not sure if the AstroMeta tuners are OEMed by Realtek but maybe they also have the BDA drivers.

Hi Kiwi,
I also have an AstroMeta digital TV dongle and setup the latest driver (AMDVBT2 BDA driver for DVBC Build 140425). Release notes says: "Support third party DVB-C player software".
However I couldn't make DVB-C to work with NextPVR. NextPVR still recognizes this device only as DVB-T and not DVB-C.
If you were able to make DVB-C work with NextPVR, please give me some hints how to go on.

In the NPVR folder of Program Files is a program called filtercheck.exe. Run filtercheck.exe and post the file that it produces. This should show the state of the drivers for your tuner.

Yes this was the driver I use and it does work. Smile

Perhaps, instead of using the install program, just install the driver directly using Device Manager.

It looks a lot like the driver is not working right. Can you use Device Manager to uninstall (ticking the box to delete the driver) and then do a re-install of the device driver. And as Kiwi says ... it might be worth trying a driver install via Device Manager.

HI,

This a little program to switch DVB-T/T2 <-> DVB-C for Astrometa tuner. It's provided as is.
Program :https://mega.co.nz/#!TQ8RgQxS!AUSwKpeqkv...PFv62Mk8Hk
Source (C#): https://mega.co.nz/#!7UMD2boS!yzOguViExl...BFEBDU0Ioc

To do if I have time :
- reset the device in an another thread
- Stay in system tray ?
