I've put a post out on the nDroid (TE) Beta Testers Google Group but just to follow through in case anybody doesn't get an email from the group...

I've just uploaded v2.1 of the nDroid Service to my web server and I'm about to upload v2.1 of the nDroid (TE) app to the Google Play Beta testers group.

Install the service before updating the app - it will work with current release versions of nDroid and nDroid (TE).

Some known issues...

Ignore the "Video Test" in the options menu - I was going to take it out but as this is a closed Beta group I figured I could just warn you that it won't work for you.

Feel free to try out SSDP Search - it will be buried in the code for the next release (rather than being a menu option). It's meant to help with discovering nDroid Services on a WLAN. If you don't get a search response then let me know.

I've added FTS3 (Fast Text Search) ability into TE but the search results won't do anything yet. Just test the search dropdown works with the magnifying glass icon and you get a result popup.

If you start from a fresh install, ignore the "Cancel Download" button...it doesn't do anything and will be removed for the public release.

Changes...

Tidied up the Action Bar options menu (right hand side on a tablet) so they don't duplicate things. In other words if you're in the TV Guide view it won't show "TV Guide" in the options menu. Similarly, if you switch to "Recordings" it'll show "TV Guide" but not "Recordings" etc etc

Extra work to add a Navigation Drawer for options on phones (touch the < part of the nDroid (TE) title on the Action Bar).

Added multiple transcode settings for Live TV / Recordings.

Added "press to play" live TV in the channel list

Changes to Now/Next to show start/end times.

Change to All timeslots to exclude programmes marked as "Close" (I'll possibly add an option to exclude "Teleshopping" also. Wink )

Fixed problem with playback from "Recordings". NOTE: trying anything in "Recurring" or "Pending" views still won't work - I'm currently waiting on UJB to finalise some stuff with the new NEWA services.

Fixed problem where incorrect network details (IP address for instance) would cause infinite download spinning circle.

Cheers,
Brian

OK, installed no problem - did not even have to uninstall first.

Looks good. A few issues:
1) Under Media, can you default to Videos - I suspect that most people use this for that rather than Music.

2) Visiting my media folders seems to not get the folder being used quite right. For example, one of my media folders is called Live, which maps to C:\Temp\live. If I click on this, I get a blank screen, and whirling circle. Tapping on it displays the media player (MX Player), with a folder of C:\Temp\live\Live.

Another folder is called Movies/TV Shows ==> Q:\, but picking this gives MX Player showing C:\Temp\live\Movies/TV Shows.

It seems to be OK the first folder to visit, but not following ones. I think it is hanging onto the first folder visited and using it again.

3) Something is not 100% in the streaming protocol to skip or FF? I seem to be able to do this sometimes (e.g. with transcoded MKVs) but not others (the original TS files).

4) Does "Added "press to play" live TV in the channel list" mean what I think? That if I press the channel name in Seven Day, it should start playing live TV? If so, it doesn't for me - I get a blank screen with nDroid (TE) at the top, and nothing underneath. If this is not what was meant, what was?

5) Every time you go back to the TV Guide, there are a few (sometimes 30) seconds of "Please wait". OK, its now stuck on "Please wait" and I have had to Force Stop it.

6) I am still getting the generic nDROID channel logo for the channel "ABC2 / ABC4". NPVR wants the logo file called ABC2<space><space>ABC4.jpg.

7) Recording "All episodes, this channel" seems to actually only record once. It never appears in the recurring recordings.

8) Every now and then, definitely not repeatably, my default post-padding of 15 minutes reverts to the NPVR standard of 2. I usually only discover this when watching the show, so I cant tell if it is happening on the display or the message or later on in NPVR. I am fairly sure though that it only happens on shows I record using nDroid.

Cheers

OK, I'll look at adding a setting for personal choice. I've a feeling it's due to alphabetic sorting, i.e., M for music and V for videos.

Quote:2) Visiting my media folders seems to not get the folder being used quite right. For example, one of my media folders is called Live, which maps to C:\Temp\live. I'd have to see the logs for this (in particular the nDroidServiceListener.log which will show the requested folder being sent). That's an odd one - I've got my tablet to the side of me and I've just gone through my folders and got expected behaviour.

Quote:3) Something is not 100% in the streaming protocol to skip or FF? I seem to be able to do this sometimes (e.g. with transcoded MKVs) but not others (the original TS files).
I've noticed that a lot of the time I see a duration of 0:00 in MX Player but I'm sure I mostly used to see valid durations. If the player can't get a duration then skipping isn't going to work. What's weird is some of my files work fine but most don't. I've even reset my MX Player settings back to default just in case I'd screwed things up. Not sure if they've done something with MX Player and the way it gets durations. I'll probably concentrate on this more when I move to using the new NEWA services but that won't be until the next version of npvr is released.

Quote:4) Does "Added "press to play" live TV in the channel list" mean what I think? That if I press the channel name in Seven Day, it should start playing live TV? Hmmm, yeah something isn't right. I thought I'd fixed this before uploading the app to Google Play - in fact it was one of the last things I tested. Confused. In answer to your question though - yes, a long-press in the channel list should trigger playback of that channel.

Quote:5) Every time you go back to the TV Guide, there are a few (sometimes 30) seconds of "Please wait". OK, its now stuck on "Please wait" and I have had to Force Stop it.
That "Please wait" is caused by building the "All Timeslots" list. I've been meaning to fix that (thanks for the reminder) but I've never had it hang totally. How many channels do you have set up?

Quote:6) I am still getting the generic nDROID channel logo for the channel "ABC2 / ABC4". NPVR wants the logo file called ABC2<space><space>ABC4.jpg.
OK I'll look into that again.

Quote:7) Recording "All episodes, this channel" seems to actually only record once. It never appears in the recurring recordings.
Have you checked at the npvr end? There are still problems with real-time updates in nDroid itself and you might need to do a full refresh / download to fix that. This will change when I move to the new NEWA services.

Quote:8) Every now and then, definitely not repeatably, my default post-padding of 15 minutes reverts to the NPVR standard of 2. I usually only discover this when watching the show, so I cant tell if it is happening on the display or the message or later on in NPVR. That one I don't understand - nDroid actually downloads the npvr config.xml file in full and pulls stuff like padding times out of it. Again I'd have to see the listener log to chack as I'm pretty sure it logs padding whenever a recording request is made.

Thanks for the feedback.

1) Thanks
2) Log file attached.
3) OK
4) OK
5) 22
6) Thanks
7) The only log entries I can find in NPVR are below. If I read this correctly, only a single recording is being scheduled.
2014-02-11 16:28:11.589 [DEBUG][7] TV Listings: RecordingSchedule: database file change detected, starting schedule update timer.
2014-02-11 16:28:12.351 [DEBUG][10] TV Listings: RecordingSchedule: update procedure starting.
2014-02-11 16:28:12.374 [DEBUG][10] TV Listings: RecordingSchedule: added '[25612] Four Corners [4338858] (c_7154, 11/02/2014 11:34 PM - 12:21 AM)'.
2014-02-11 16:28:12.375 [DEBUG][10] TV Listings: RecordingSchedule: detected change in scheduled recordings.
2014-02-11 16:28:12.375 [DEBUG][10] TV Listings: RecordingSchedule: finished updating recording schedule, broadcasting changes.
2014-02-11 16:28:12.375 [DEBUG][10] TV Recordings: Panel: recording schedule changed, updating.

This is quite repeatable.

ndroidservicehelper.log has

8) Ok, I will try to reproduce.

OK, forget 8) - I have found an example with no mention of it in the nDroid logs. It must be an NPVR issue.

Thanks - I'll take a look WRT the season recording and the media folders.

There's something not right with your C:\Temp\live and I think that's throwing things off. See the bold text...
Code:
11/02/2014 14:53:52.690 GetMediaFolderContents() - enumerating folders threw exception: [B]Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Temp\live\'.[/B]   at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)
   at System.IO.FileSystemEnumerableIterator`1.CommonInit()
at System.IO.FileSystemEnumerableIterator`1..ctor(String path, String originalUserPath, String searchPattern, SearchOption searchOption, SearchResultHandler`1 resultHandler)
at System.IO.Directory.InternalGetFileDirectoryNames(String path, String userPathOriginal, String searchPattern, Boolean includeFiles, Boolean includeDirs, SearchOption searchOption)
at System.IO.Directory.GetDirectories(String path, String searchPattern, SearchOption searchOption)
   at uk.co.beetec.csharp.nDroid.nDroidLib.nDroidServiceHelper.GetMediaFolderContents(String folderName, String mediaLibrary) in C:\Documents and Settings\gbpvr\My Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\nDroidService\nDroidLib\nDroidServiceHelper.cs:line 1437
I don't know what's wrong with your path (can you check it's valid and doesn't have any specific permissions issues?) but I think I know why that would cause a knock-on effect when trying to access other library folders.

OK, that would explain it. Big Grin

How did it get in there? NDroid wouldn't have added it. The media folders come from the npvr config.xml file.

Either way, I need to add some code to cope with non-existent or inaccessible media folders.
