I understand that some US cable providers have new channels for the Olympics in 4k.  If anyone could provide me with a 2 minute ts recording I'd like to have a sample for my library of formats.

Japanese 8k samples would be neat too.

I rescanned my Verizon channel lineup, and the 4K channels showed up. And The HDHR Prime was able to pass the signal through in full 4K (which I guess shouldn't surprise me, since the thing really just decodes using the CableCard). So here's 2 minutes.

It's just a loop banner for one of the NBC stations, but it is in 4K. If you want a sample with actual action, let me know. I'll get another sample when there are some actual Olympics on.

Thanks a lot. If possible if you could provide something with moving video that would be a more difficult test then still frames, I am curious to test on various clients. Interesting to note that it is Dolby Digital Plus I had read that it was going to have a Dolby Atmos track.

My first test with NextPVR.exe was not a success though did you try it in NextPVR?

I didn't do it through NextPVR. I just grabbed the stream from the Prime via VLC. The next actual 4K broadcast is 8pm EST, so I'll try and grab some via VLC again. And I'll see if I can get the channel into NPVR and then try from there too.

No need to add it to NextPVR, in fact since you aren't using the Windows server anymore you couldn't play it with NextPVR.exe anyway,

Well, too late. I did just because.  And now I'm watching some of the Olympics in 4K through NPVR and Kodi.

Here's two minutes captured directly from the Prime using VLC:

And two minutes captured from the Prime using NPVR:

I might try recording three 4K streams at once just to see what happens. The Prime has gigabit Ethernet, so I think it should work. Just depends on whether the network can keep up between it and the Synology NAS (which is where NPVR is running).

Thanks again, still no luck. It looks like these have Dolby Vision so with the right player and TV they could look pretty nice.

Both of those files seem to play pretty well for me in NextPVR.exe. I see two issues though: 1) the colors look kind of muted 2) the OSD graphics are missing when I move the mouse.

I downloded both pkscout's files. The NPVR file would not play with the NextPVR Roku app. However, the vlc file played and my TCL 4K TV recognized it as HDR. Colors looked fine.

The NPVR file does play using the Kodi app for Firestik 4K and my TV recognizes it as HDR as well.
