I've upgraded to the latest version of NPVR and am having trouble recording certain channels from my Silicon Dust Prime tuner. It will record some, but not all. If I select a non-recordable channel from the epg, all I get is a blank screen and the Prime tuner light does not come on. I installed the latest patch posted about this problem and that helped with some channels but not all. I'm enclosing the log files and would appreciate any help.

I think you have the same problem as another user the other day, where you didn't have a bound cable card with channel list when you first setup your channels in NextPVR, causing it to fall back to scanning for channels, rather than getting the pre-prepared list of virtual channel numbers.

This works fine, until the broadcaster moves channels around.

Quote:2014-03-30 09:59:01.254 [DEBUG][10] Executing: C:\Program Files\Silicondust\HDHomeRun\hdhomerun_config.exe 13106EB1 set /tuner1/channel auto:129
2014-03-30 09:59:01.298 [DEBUG][10] Executing: C:\Program Files\Silicondust\HDHomeRun\hdhomerun_config.exe 13106EB1 set /tuner1/program 2

The user the other day deleted their channels and rescanned, and got the correct virtual channel numbers, removing the need for NextPVR to tune by channel. Instead of the log messages above, you'd see it tuning by "/tuner1/vchannel x"

This is nothing to do with the latest release of NextPVR though. It might have just been bad luck, and the broadcaster moved channels at the same time.

I'm that other user. I have two HDHR Primes - only one of them had been scanned and I was basing my NextPVR device setup off the other one.

If you look at the channels ("channels" tab in the "HDHomeRun Setup" program), you will see channels regardless of which tuner you select. On the other hand, if you use the "HDHomeRun Config (GUI)" program, select the unit (MAC address, not one of the tuners), you will see the web page for the unit. Click the "Channel Lineup" link and you'll see the channels for that unit. One of mine showed nothing. Click the "Detect Channels" button and you'll get the channels. Go back to NextPVR and delete and re-add the device. When you scan for channels, it will complete very quickly - 1 second or so. You won't see NextPVR scanning the tuner through the channels.

I saw the web page you're talking about but I didn't see your post until after I'd rescanned the Prime, deleted all the channels in NPVR and repopulated with the new scan. That was fine but, unfortunately, the new channels didn't want to auto connect with Schedules Direct so I ended up doing all of them manually. All is working fine now, though. I think the problem is that Cox is putting many of the cable channels on digital channels so they can add more channels. They did provide me with a free Motorola tuning adapter so I could get those channels but it apparently takes a rescan of the Prime for it to find the new channel numbers (example: NBC Sports went from channel 2257 to channel 2078). I suspect they're going to be doing this a lot in the future so it may be fun trying to keep up with them.
