All I'm trying to achieve is a simple poster/info for movies in a movie folder in the Videos section. What I want is described here: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?n=Manual.Video
Do you think I can get this...NO, and I don't understand why. I downloaded the Media Center Master program recommended in the link but I'm getting nothing like that image in my movie files. I notice it has several different xml file outputs and I've tried a couple but nothing shows up in the display window, even if I rename it [title].xml. I'm just trying to get what is already provided for TV shows with the MetaData header in Videos. You wouldn't think it would be this difficult but I'm apparently doing something wrong. Any ideas?

I can check for you. Can you please zip up the contents of one of your movie directories, minus the video file itself, and post the file? ie, giving me the artwork and metadata files you've got for this movie. I'll extract it here, and put a dummy movie of the same name, and try it here. I'll quickly be able to tell what it doesn't like about the metadata.

Here you go. All I see is the poster.jpg.

I think you did something wrong with how you made that zip file. It ended up with shortcut lnk files to the metadata, not the actual metadata files themselves. Can you try again?

If you're copying the files to another directory to zip them up, copy the original files, don't make links to them.

I'm not having any luck trying to zip these. I don't do this enough, I guess. I've got to leave now fo an appointment so I'll try again later.

I changed zip programs. Perhaps this will work:

Yep, that zip worked.

What's the exact name of your video file?

Do you have a separate directory for this movie? ie, is it in a directory named something like "12 years a slave"?

A couple of things. If you have a video file called something like '12.Years.a.Slave.ts' or '12.Years.a.Slave.mp4', then it'll look for artwork called '12.Years.a.Slave.png' or '12.Years.a.Slave.jpg' (or folder.jpg), and metadata called '12.Years.a.Slave.xml' (or mymovies.xml or movie.nfo or movie.nfo).

I don't know what your video file was called, but your artwork was called 12.Years.a.Slave.jpg, and metadata was called 12.Years.a.Slave 2013.xml, so one of those wont match depending on what you video file was called.

I did find the format of your xml file was different to those generated by other tools, but I've included a patch that supports this format. Again, delete your thumbs cache files.

The actual movie file is: 12.Years.a.Slave.mp4 It's in a folder called 12 Years a Slave 2013. All movies are in subfolders of TV/Movies which is played in the Videos plugin. What does the exact name of the xml file have to be? I'll try the patch and see what happens.

If the file was called "12.Years.a.Slave.mp4", then it's going to look for "12.Years.a.Slave.xml". Yours was called "12.Years.a.Slave 2013.xml".
