I really just noticed this problem and would like a clarification.

If I have more recurring recordings scheduled for a specific time than I have tuners available, the extra recordings are simply ignored with no conflict notification. Even though some of the shows run at a later time, they are still lost.

Is that the way it works?

Yeah I seem to have encountered a similar problem recently with the release 3.2.9. Some of the recurring recordings do not generate the necessary pending recordings even though there was no tuner conflict.

Definitely not how it works, at all. Unless your recurring recordings specify a timeslot, but even then you still should get a conflict entry. Post logs showing an epg update and specify a show that didn't get scheduled.

I'm going out right now, so I'll post the logs later.
I should mention that I'm still on 3.1.1.

I assume what's happening is whenever I scheduled one of the shows that didn't record, one or more of the previously scheduled shows were not active at the time.
i.e. reruns, off-season, etc.
That's why I didn't see any conflicts?

There was no conflict handling in 3.1.1, you'll need to upgrade to 3.2.9

I loaded up 3.2.9 and I do see a conflict when I try to schedule a show when all the tuners are in use.

However, I still think there may be a problem in the scenario I suggested earlier.
i.e. some recurring recording that is currently not pending due to being inactive at the moment
I believe the problem will eventually show up in the "Conflicts" menu, but without any notification to me.

I guess I'll have to start keeping an eye on the "Conflicts" menu.

So the bottom line is, NPVR will not automatically reschedule a show for a later run date?

yes, of course it will, unless you've put some sort of limitation in your recurring recording definition that would prevent it, like if your recurring recording specifies a particular day of the week or a particular timeslot; a show that doesn't meet the criteria won't be scheduled.

Sorry, I'm still trying to understand this.
If NPVR will automatically reschedule a show for a later recording, why would it show up as a conflict in the first place?

I'll have to do some more testing. I'm probably overlooking something.

It will show as a conflict if there's no other showing of the episode that can be recorded within the criteria of the recurring recording. So there may simply be no other showings available, or the other available showings may not match the recurring recording request. I don't know which situation you're encountering.

Like he says, if you have set the recurring recording "daily/weekly this timeslot" and the rerun is outside the default 90 minutes timeslot, npvr will not consider it.
