New to NPVR. Setup with Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1600 under Windows 7. NPVR sees the card and can get the channels. I don't have a EPG service and the over-the-air EPG seems to only pick up titles for a couple of channels. Anyway, I'm trying to setup some recurring programs and I can choose them in the TV Guide based on their times and channels, but when I save them I don't see a way to edit the program title "(no show details)". I can set the recurring recording (I set hour-long recordings to 30 minutes of ending buffer because it assumes all recordings are 30 minutes), but the shows don't show up in the pending recordings list and do not record. Live TV works fine. I've tried to attach my logs here.

Thanks for any advice or guidance,
Joe

I don't have much to offer except to say that you really need to have a program guide to effectively use NPVR. And, in the US, the over-the-air is useless. Your choices are Schedules Direct - $25 per year with a free trial, and mce2xml which is a scraper that gets its info from the WMC source. Not necessarily legit.

I think your effort to work around the lack of guide data is doomed, as the whole premise of NPVR is to have the guide for program name, channel name, etc that all go into the NPVR database. I expect that the "no show details" will confuse things.

Someone else may have some ideas.

The only way to go without EPG data is to use manual recurring recordings, which are on the hidden menu of the Recordings screen (press up-arrow at the top of the recording list, or move the mouse to the top of the screen); you can set the title of the recordings. That said, I can't see it being worth the trouble.... get EPG data!
