Hi, I would really appreciate some advice with the error message I am getting "Unable to communicate with recording service.

I am desperatley trying to move away from MCE and NextPVR looks great and in fact once I get it working I intend using it as the backend for XBMC. However I came unstuck today and after three hours of testing / trying and reading I am still having no luck.

The EPG downloads fine, I scanned and can see all my channels. I know my tv card works as MCE can see and play the channels.

So based on this and all the reading I have done I am assuming it must be a decoder issue.

I have tried all the various decoder options and still no luck.

I have also tried the following - and had no luck:

- Ran NextPVR as administrator
- Checked and allowed NextpVR program through my firewall
- I temperorily disabled my virus pgm and firewall and tested it - no luck

Can anyone help me fault find please as I am very keen to get the PVR working

Thanks in advance

Kind regards

Gary

You'll have to zip and post your logs folder or it's anyone's guess...

Thanks for your prompt reply, appreciate it

Where are the log files stores (I did a few searches but could not find the sub folder logs)

Attached is a screen grab of the folder structure

The npvr data is stored under Users\Public\npvr (if you are running Vista og newer windows). You'd better read this thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...arted-Info

Thanks for your help.

I have attached a zip folder of my log files and hopefully they can tell you something.

I also checked that I have the latest version which I do have.

Thanks Red!!

It sure looks like a firewall issue to me. NRecord and NDigitalhost also need to be permitted on your local network

Thanks Martin

I have allowed the NextPVR program through the firewall.

How do I allow the other program files through as I cannot see them individually to allow them through?

Thanks Martin appreciate your reply

Did you miss that "Add Program" button ? They are in the same folder and NextPVR.exe

Martin

Thanks Martin

Got them into the firewall - however still no luck at all.

Same issues and same error message.

Windows media centre can see the tv live, and I can download the EPG to NextPVR yet cannot access live tv.

I have attached an updated log file here in case that can help us at all

Cheers and thanks

isn't this the old problem we'd see every now and then where the c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file doesn't have a "127.0.0.1 localhost" entry? I know it's not supposed to be needed any more (none of my machines have it either), but it seems like that particular error has been solved in the past by adding (or uncommenting) that entry.
