Using XMLTV errors

Hi,
When trying to select XMLTV as the EPG source for a channel an error dialouge pops up with the following error message!? Any ideas??

Just saw this, as a new user to NPVR it kinda scares me when I see support requests from 12/19 (almost a month ago) and no one even replies let alone attempts to help the guy. Am I missing something?

;-) I didn't upload a log which was prob. the problem.... it still says the error, but if you ignore it and select the XMLTV file it will let you select a channel and import...>?

We're a pretty small community, and we try to help when possible, but sometimes stuff falls through the cracks or gets missed. Personally, I've been pretty busy the last few weeks, with projects around home, so haven't been here as much as usual.

Is this on the Settings -> Channels screen, when you double click a channel to see it's details, and try to change the EPG from DVB to XMLTV? ie, is your channel stuck on the DVB EPG?

Hello! In my case that's exactly where the problem was, yes. The dropdown box has 4 options in it, selecting XMLTV causes the pop up box error but it does then let you select a file and continue,... is it the kind of thing that would be logged??? I can clear the logs, reproduce and attach if it's of any use to you...

There was quite a few changes around this area in the last release, so possible I broke something.

You get the error as soon as you select XMLTV in the dropdown?

If you hit continue, was the "XMLTV File" set to name of the last XMLTV file you used, or blank? Was the "Mapping" set to something or blank? I'm trying to determine the area of code likely to be at fault.

no, we don't automatically ignore posts just because someone doesn't include a log. at worst some of us may use that as an opportunity to make a joke with varying degrees of success (remember the time I made a joke about how sub really ought to add logging to nextpvr, so users could post logs with their support requests? and the user completely missed the joke? remember? :p).

As sub says, most likely it just got missed; I often visit the forums whilst I should be working, and sometimes inadvertently actually do some work before I manage to read every new post; then when I return later the forum software assumes I read all the new posts when I was on earlier. I don't recall seeing it originally, but even if I did I could have ignored it simply because I don't use xmltv currently and couldn't readily test the same function on my own system.

Posting the .net exception is pretty good, and in some cases the regular nextpvr logs may not show anything at all for a .net exception. The danger of users with less than, say, 5,894 posts deciding when they should and shouldn't post logs is that they don't know all the things to look for and all the questions about their own setup that can be answered with a complete set of logs (sometimes it's what the log doesn't say that's most critical). Indeed there are plenty of times when really only users with at least 76,780 posts are qualified to say which logs should be posted and when... all users with fewer posts should just post all their logs and be done with it.
