How are things in NextPVR world...

I am finally upgrading my system OS from winxp 32 bit to windows 7 64 bit and adding some RAM. That means I need to ditch the PVR-150 as I understand. If I am looking for something similar/better at similar price that I paid several years ago for the PVR-150 what capture devices should I be looking at? I took a peek at the WinTV 2255, seems like a definite option. It doesn't have that 64 bit RAM limiting issue correct? Any others you folks would recommend I look at?

I run 2 2250s and 1 2255 using WIn7 x64 in one machine. At one point the machine also had a 1600 as well. It worked flawlessly for over a year now. You may want to consider an HD Prime though if you will be connecting to cable.

Thanks for the info Chris. Already been working on this software upgrade. Win 7-64 is up and running, I have 4 GB of RAM, I just finished installing WinTV 7 and the PVR-150 is working great. I thought 4 GB was too much. Smile
Not sure if this helps or not, but I set the Windows Boot Options to "PCI LOCK" which someone suggested on another forum as a way to use more memory with this card and 64bit OS. In a couple weeks I will have an 8GB and that will be the real test I guess. Now to configure NPVR!

Not to hijack this thread but I thought we could only run a max of (2) HVR-2250/2255's at one time? Or am I thinking only WMC recognizes a max of (4) available tuners?

A little update that others might find useful. The PCI LOCK parameter doesn't help for 64 bit OS + PVR150 + 4GB RAM. But I am using another workaround that results in about 3.3 GB RAM when you have 4 installed. In an elevated command prompt use the following command: bcdedit /set truncatememory=0xdff5e000
In actuality the hex number value can be just about anything between 3.3 and 4 GB, it represents byte address to limit the OS to.

So with NPVR on my system I was bogging down my old vid card pretty bad, it was useable with VMR9 Custom, but less than exciting. So I just upgraded it to the Nvidia GTX 750Ti. Wow, nice card for the price. Recommended.

I'm looking into changing my capture card as well. I've been checking prices on the Colossus because it has an html port that I can plug my HD Direct TV set top box. I'm wondering if any one else is using this card and what type of luck they are having with it.

That's a limitation of WMC, 4 tuners of a specific type out of the box. It can also be manipulated through the registry to allow for more in WMC as well.

Ok. My HVR-2250 is here!

Now the question is do I need to uninstall software and all that, or do I just shut it down, pull the 150, stick in the 2250, boot up, and install any drivers needed for the 2250? Then configure the new device in NPVR of course.

I'd install the latest WinTV 7 from the Hauppauge site first.

Martin's right, if you don't it won't work properly even if you do get the drivers to load, FM definitely won't work if you don't. Good luck
