Hauppauge DCR-2650 Tuner light comes on then goes off and screen goes blank

I have recently added a Hauppauge DCR-2650 with a cable card.
Every once in a while, when I click "Watch" from the guide, the Tuner 1 light comes on then goes off.
I end up with a blank screen. If I go to the devices, it will say all tuners are present and enabled and when I try again after that, everything is fine.
Attached are the logs after the black screen.
This is only a minor inconvenience, but I worry what would happen if a recording was scheduled at that time instead of my attempt to watch live.

Ok...the second attempt at live worked without going to settings=>devices

The ndigitalhost processes capture data from a tuner. The ndigitalhost-40.log.1 file has

2015-01-30 10:22:01.642 [DEBUG][5] locked=0, present=0, strength=0, quality=0 (took 250ms to check)

The "strength" and "quality" values indicate that the tuner is not receiving data. Dodgy cables or connectors or weak signal due to signal splitter ... maybe?

Try un-ticking "Update DVB EPG during Live TV" in Settings --> Misc

btw...anybody know what the "tuner resolver" is for the Hauppauge?

Also...I use Schedule Direct for the guide source for my cable card tuner, so that would really make the "DVB EPG" setting unnecessary, right? Is that for getting guide info "over the air"?

Yes ... It's redundant if you use Schedules Direct.

I can see two different ways you're trying to access the HDHR in those logs, via BDA (ATSC/QAM on the Devices screen), and via the HDHR entry on the Devices screen. If you've got a cable card, you should be using the latter.
