Fire stick front end for Live TV

I've done quite a bit of searching and attempted setups, and still have not found a viable front end for watching live tv on the fire stick. I have several claimed solutions, but none are really usable. I have 3 fire sticks powering various TVs throughout the house, and would like to avoid buying YAD (yet another device) for each TV if possible.

What do you have set up for a front end on a fire stick?
What settings do you use to minimize lag (EPG settings, etc)?
How can you diagnose problems to determine if they are wifi network or NPVR or device?

Bottom line is it's all about expectations. The FTV doesn't do h/w deinterlacing and is wifi only so it is worse then an RPi for some basic functionality. It only has average performance for the current generation of Android devices so just don't expect too much or figure on tweaking too much to get over the core problems in buying cheap devices.

Having recently purchased a few 4K fire sticks and using an 802.11ac wifi network, I am wondering if there is any intention to develop/support a nextpvr client to run natively on a fire stick? Note: I have the kodi client working, as well as, the HDHomerun app of the "stick" - both working well. Any sight of a fire tv app in the v5 roadmap?

Depends on the Roku version in that the memory/storage are kind of limited.

Unfortunately that's less likely. The Fire stick is basically just Android device, and the Android app has worked on it in the past, so not a huge deal to get it working on it again.

A Roku app would be from the ground up new development, and a lot of work....All I can give you is a "maybe in the future" on that one.

Understood. No point in going to the trouble unless it makes business sense to do so. Both have a huge user-base so it would make sense for you to focus on the firestick. I have both devices but (for me) the Roku is miles better and it has very good integration with the Logitech elite remote.
