Over the past couple of days I've been experiencing odd behavior on one Mux only (UK, Hemel Hempstead Transmitter, C50-706Mhz). Recordings complete correctly but will not play back (either on server or client), resulting in a black screen that returns back to the recordings screen after a few seconds. The file appears to be fine, running it through video editing programs shows the content as expected.

All channels on the same Multiplex are showing the same issue, the other three multiplexes available are working fine and as expected which seems to eliminate a codec issue (All multiplexes are Standard Definition MPEG2). I've tried with two different tuners and see the same problem. My TV is able to tune and display the channels in question as expected. I've attempted a re-tune in NextPvr and a full cold reboot plus checked the signal strength.

I've attached log files for a recording of a 17s second sample from one of the affected channels (started recording from EPG, then cancelled 17seconds later) and the resulting .ts file (4.5MB) can be found here https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0lgyJW...sp=sharing

I'm at a bit of a loss and any help would be gratefully received!

I'm on holiday. along way from my development PC, so unfortunately can't take a closer look at this one at the moment. Hopefully some others will be able to download the sample recording and at least confirm if it plays or not.

I can definitely take a look when I'm back home.

I can confirm that I have the same problem with your file when imported into NextPvr.
It plays ok in VLC and Videoredo but not in Windows Media Player.

I have just done a QuickStream Fix in Videoredo and the file now plays in NextPVR.

This matches my thoughts - looks like a problem with the stream coming from the transmitter as it affects all channels on this multiplex only rather than anything NextPVR or decoder related. Somewhat annoying as it means that I cannot watch live TV on a number of channels and will have to fix any recordings before they are usable in NextPVR.

Hopefully they'll fix the problem!

Thanks everyone for looking

Are you sure your Tuning ini is up to date and correct - according to your ndigitalhost log it is tuning to <frequency>506000</frequency> - which is channel 25 not Channel 50 (706000) and according to this page http://www.ukfree.tv/transmitters/tv/Hemel_Hempstead you should be getting 6 muxes not 4

Auction Hunters on Quest? should be on C50 as you said

You could be getting a very distant station and very poor signal. Crystal Palace is using C25 for this mux!
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

Mr Pan

I am also seeing a problem on the COM4 mux on the Mendip transmitter ... I know that the .ini is okay because you created it and because I have rescanned and it found the channels okay.

I have done some tests using the channels 5USA and Drama. Live TV is okay. Playing a pending recording is okay. Playing a finished recording is not okay. The playback ends immediately after starting. But, pressing Play to start playback and then immediately pressing FastForward allows the playback to work okay.

I get the same symptoms using either LAV decoders or Cy..link decoders. I get the same symptoms if I force the recordings to a different tuner.

So my question to you, Mr Pan, is ... Can you reproduce these symptoms on that mux?

Thanks, Graham

Had that problem immediately after upgrading to NextPVR v3.4.8 possibly on that mux - but it seemed to stop after one of the updated installers. I do record from 5USA and Drama most weeks without problems now. Make sure you have the latest installer - only way is to download it again and try.

Could be co-channel interference from your direction - here in W-S-M only problem is a 60' Leylandei Tree directly between the aerial and Mendip TX- now where's my fireworks now the weather is HOT.

There is another thread with a similar problem?

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...back-issue

It seems to be caused by the beginning of a recorded file. If I try to watch a recording that's taking place it just goes to a blank screen; a recorded file jumps to the end. I can get it to play in the same manner described above - by starting play and then immediately skipping forward.
