Newbie New Install - Live TV does not work.

I installed NextPVR and went through the settings. Connected to my TV tuner card Hauppauge WINTV HVR-1250 (Model 79xxx, Hybrid ATSC/QAM). Scanned for channels and it found about 51.

Tryed Live TV, but nothing played. Tried several channels. No luck.

Scanned through the log file (NPRV.log) but couldn't see any clues that I could figure out what the problems was.

Uninstalled the program and reinstalled it to see if that would help. No luck.

In settings - Decoders - I tried each of the Video Renderers (6 of them). No luck.

In settings - Decoders - I tried all the Video Decoders in the H.264 Video drop down list. No luck.

In settings - decoders - MPeg2 Video the only option was Disabled.
In settings - HEVC Video - the only option is Disabled.

The audio works at times, but cuts out after a minute or so after starting the program.
The video has never worked so far.

The last time I ran NextPVR it played the audio for a minute or so then cut out. THen I closed the program.

I am running Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center - 64 bit version (all updates are current) on a Desktop computer.
4 GBytes of Ram
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 2.40GHz
Disk has 25Gbytes of free space.
Video Card - Intel G33/G31 Express Chip Set Family.
Monitor - Dell

Windows Media Center Works with the TV tuner card. Never had problems with it.

I need to get NextPVR working so I can us it instead of Windows Media Center when I upgrade to Windows 10.

NextPVR doesn't come with any video decoders, and just reuses those you already have on your machine. In that part of the world, with that tuner, you'd need an MPEG2 decoder. If 'disabled' is the only option, then you'll need to install an MPEG2 video decoder. Maybe try installing the LAV video decoder, or the SAF decoder pack. (remember to the select the decoder after installing)

If not, I have Googled for MPEG2 video decoders. GitHub has a LAVFilter-0.65 in both an X86 and an X64 versions. Are these LAV decoders that I could use? Can I use the X64 version with NextPVR?

NextPVR used to be able use Microsoft's MPEG2 decoder in Windows 7, but Microsoft knobbled their decoder in Windows 8/8.1, to make it only usable from their own software, not 3rd party apps like NextPVR. So... you'll need some other MPEG2 decoder.

NextPVR is a 32 bit app, so will use the x86 versions of the decoders. The LAV decoders should do the job https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters...taller.exe

The LAV video decoder does not work good with npvr, install the unlocked SAF package (PM to Hoborg) and select the Cyberlink decoder. The LAV audio decoder is ok.

The LAV Video Decoder is not good for H.264 video, since it doesn't play nicely with the Microsoft demux. I thought it was ok for MPEG2 video (which is what most US users need), but I don't use it here, so don't have that much experience with it. I'll be interested to hear other peoples comments on how it performs for MPEG2.

The LAV decoders seem pretty good for audio.

Yes the audio decoder is just fine, but I experienced lagging and freeze with the video decoder (on mpeg2), maybe the new version is better, I haven't tested it lately.
